Over than span of four year snowboading ive made leaps and bounds in my ablilty to ride. Although what stands out to me the most was how much snowboarding langue I picked up. When your surrounded in the mico-culture of the moutain snowbaording langue is inexcapable. Therefore, being a snowboarder affects the type of langue you use on the mountain.
While snowboarding your worries narrow, and the only thing that matters is the moment. Life moves at the speed of whatever you desire. It can be quite the surreal experience. Finance, engineering, biuness they all have job specific venaculars. The same is ture for snowboarding. Riders have a specific vocabulary that describes terrain and the condition of the moutian. Any rider can attese to hearing creative ajective such as "knarley" or "crunchy" both of witch describe the case of someone doing something outstanding or noteworthy whether it be in a good or bad sence. Some of the more interesting examples of jargon come in the form description. One of my personal favorites is a series of three words that describe the speed of a rider the first and slowest is "cruzin" meaning a rider is typicaly standing tall with legs stiff and arms relaxed by their side. The speed in mph will varrie between riders and their still level. The next and second fastest is "rippin" a rider will be in a bent knee position with the side of their face close to parrallel with their sholder. While still mataining exacting control of their board. Finally you have "nukin" a term that intiate near loss of control with the rider doing everything in his power to mantaian a upright position. These terms are the foundation of conversation between fellow riders it give you a profound sence of belonging when your all communicating in your own unlike way.
