Maybe back then when cavemen and cavewomen existed, they would not use a tooth brush, who knows. However according to a source of Colgate Oral Care Center, the history of a toothbrush was dated back to 3500-3000 BC. The Babylonians and the Egyptians mad a brush by fraying the end of a twig they would find. In ancient Egypt tombs were found to been containing tooth sticks alongside their owners. Around 1600BC, the Chinese developed "chewing sticks" which were made from aromatic tree twigs to freshen breath. Isn’t that amazing to know how the origin of the toothbrush was created.

It was made from the bristles from the pig’s neck, that was attached to a bone or bamboo handle, isn’t that amazing? The first toothbrush of a modern design was created by a man from England, William Addis. His idea conveyed of a handle that was carved from cattle bone and the brush portion was made from swine bristles. Throughout the years, the bristle became softer to adapt to people’s teeth. Good thing they switched the bristles to help people brush their teeth, no one wants to have a hard toothbrush. Now in the Twentieth Century everyone around the world owns a tooth brush in their home. Also, toothbrushes have changed completely, there all different sizes, shapes, and even now their electric toothbrushes! Awesome, to have a brush that can remove four times more

Dental hygiene is amongst many professions that come with an increased risk of injury. In fact, evidence suggests that the incidence of dental professionals acquiring musculoskeletal disorders is reaching 96%. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), these complications are a result of “repetitive motion or awkward posture for more than 2 hours at a time, unassisted frequent manual handling (eg, scaling an area using the same strokes), and unassisted forced manual handling (eg, heavy calculus removal using hand-activated instruments)”. These complications not only affect the quality of life for the
Some people tend to believe that a dentist is all about pulling teeth, filling gaps, and drilling holes in a mouth. That may be true, but this is more about the person that treats a patient prior to a dentist drilling into a mouth. Dental Hygienists provide more than just the basic examination. They also give advice on how to properly brush and floss, the types of foods to avoid, and give examples of what teeth could look like if not taken care of correctly. A dental hygienist provides preventive, therapeutic, restorative and educational interventions to promote optimal oral health.
Braces came about in the early 1800s, but humans were practicing orthodontics before Christ. David Evans, DDS, says that many mummified remains, with what researchers believe could have been an early attempt to close gaps in teeth, were discovered by archaeologist early in ancient history. He states, “These remains have a cord made from animal intestines (known as catgut) wrapped or run along the teeth in a very similar style to how modern orthodontists run orthodontic wire along the teeth in an effort to close off gaps.” The Surgeon Dentist, written by Pierre Fauchard, the father of modern dentistry, was published in 1728. His book gave birth to modern Orthodontics.

I decided to do my research report on dentistry because it is a perfect blend of science and art. It is a science in that you must fully comprehend on the different types of diagnostic and procedures you are doing. It is an art in that you are constantly working with your hands to create a beautiful smile. The impact you make on helping a person achieve an impeccable smile is not one to compare with materialistic things like money or cars. Dr. Pham was

Dental implants were first introduced for people who had lost all of their teeth and people who have a hard time stabilizing or tolerating dentures, because they had lost so much of the jawbone upon which dentures rest. Implants have been around for centuries. The first dental implants are attributed to the Mayans and dates back to the 600 A.D. The most remarkable implant discovery came in 1931. When an archeologist in Honduras found out that the mandible contained three tooth shaped seashells inserted into the sockets that once held teeth. Scientist believed the shells were inserted from the future, but in 1970 a dental academic discovered that bone had grown around the seashell, (they served as tooth replacement while the woman was alive).

Selecting a product that has soft bristles will bring some benefits. When you use a toothbrush that has soft bristles, it is gentler on your teeth and gums, the flexibilities of soft bristles will cause them to adapt to the contours and shape of your tooth surfaces, and they can easily get below the gum line and clean the teeth more thoroughly. A toothbrush with hard bristles on the other hand, can cause damage to gum line and wear your enamel. Initially, when plaque first forms in your mouth, they are soft and if you can catch them in that condition, a manual toothbrush with soft bristles is all it takes to remove
