Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved going to the dentist. I was never scared, not even when I went for my fillings and wisdom teeth extractions. Mostly all the hygienist I have had so far have been friendly, patient and always ready to help with a big smile on their face and that is what attracted me towards this career. I want to help people in need that cannot afford the services. I plan to use my education to teach the patients about the importance of oral health and what can be done by them to improve their daily brushing habits. Also, I can go on mission trips with other doctors to help patients in need like in Africa, military. I recently signed up to volunteer at okmom program that is going to held in February 2017. It is a two-day event providing free dental clinical treatment to patients that cannot afford insurance or dental services. I am planning to help as assistant and translator at this event. …show more content…

When I was shadowing a dental hygienist, she had a complicated case of cleaning which almost took about two hours because of smoking, not cleaning, flossing teeth properly every day. It was a challenge for her to take x-rays, clean the plaque, go over brushing and take notes on what the dentist said about in an hour but with proper education and training she did it even if it took her lunch hour. That inspired me and I am willing to do such thing for patients to help provide them better smile and reduce
