In this essay I will explain about model of democracy in several point of view and also try to discuss about my hometown “Indonesia”. This essay discusses the extent to which the model of procedural democracy fits (and fails to fit) with the transition theory for explaining democratization and focusing to explain what is democracy? And what is democratization in general with several theories. Also there are explanation about democracy in Indonesia and the way Indonesia to democracy or democratization. Why am I taking Indonesia as my case study? Because in this country so many general election per period, from the bottom to the top position for instance from headman (village leader) to President. I think its really interesting talk about democracy in Indonesia. Moreover the democracy process in Indonesia have several amendments, its from different regimes had different policy. What we can see is from “Indonesia Constitution” there are several amendments on it about general election and also about governments.
Before we talk about Indonesia situation more deeper, I’d like to explain about democracy itself. Based on several theory about democracy, according to Joseph A. Schmeter about democracy he mentioned democracy is a institutional plan to achieve political policy where the people get their power to make a decision what they choose for how competitive struggle over the voice of the people. Based on the discussion of the model of democracy that has been discussed by Arendt Lijphart namely the Westminster model of democracy and democratic model consensus. In the following discussion and the conditions applied in the Indonesian situation, the model is suitable for Indonesian democracy is consensus model of democracy. This occurs because the population in Indonesia more than 250 millions, and consists of various ethnic groups (heterogeneous), the role of minority groups is also important in decision making. So that minorities have representation in Parliament. Because the Indonesian population is heterogeneous multi-party system is needed, so that the aspirations of minority groups have representatives in parliament. Like according to Lijphart the consensus model of democracy that the ruling majority and the minority in the opposition.
Before that can be established, I think a definition of democracy should be stated so that it may be called upon later in this essay. According to the American Heritage Dictionary, democracy is stated as "the principle of social equality and respect for the individual within a community" .

The question of moral validity has plagued societies for millennia. Unsurprisingly, this question afflicted Indonesia between 1965 and 1966. In the early days of October 1965, a group of conspirators took and killed six generals. The disagreement of whom caused this coup caused the killing of more than 80,000 (1,000,000 in some areas) people. This caused a social change from aristocrats to an Indonesian business class. For other peoples around the world, the view of this genocide was a victory over communism. While these killings were clearly morally deplorable, the result was an improved and restructured government; a victory for capitalism at the height of the Cold War.
Every country differs in their preference of political system to govern their countries. For democratic countries, two possible choices of governing are the presidential system and the parliamentary system. Since both the presidential and the parliamentary systems have their own strengths and weaknesses, many scholars have examined these two forms of government, and debate on which political system is more successful in governance. In this paper, I will first provide a detailed analysis of both the parliamentary and the presidential system. I will also evaluate each system’s strengths and weaknesses, addressing any differences as well as any commonalities.
