Therefore, action plan is divided into sections which include objective, aim, timing, smarter goal, evidence and date of review/by whom. No names have been added on the action plan to maintain confidentiality. (NHS England, 2016). The objectives of a chosen action plan are to improve delegation skills and to apply leadership styles. This aims to know the strength and weakness of the team members so that the right job is allocated to the right person. The theory suggests that to be able to know strength and weaknesses of staff watch their reaction perhaps when delegating a task to them. (Goleman, 2011). This will involve if the right job is allocated to the right person and how other people are affected if the delegation is not right. Consequently, on the 5th of May 2017 a supervision session was carried out with the line manager to discuss of any comments and complaints about delegation and how to overcome challenges. (See Appendix 2). The outcome was satisfactory. In addition, the line manager advised to carry out a supervision for the staff that always have a reason not to carry out the delegated tasks to them. To support this, self-assessment tool provided in leadership and management module has been used. Improvement is required in working with others, service management, service improvement and direction setting. This is to be achieved by the end of semester. Secondly, to maintain the high level of communication to other team members so that high quality work is produced. This requires using communication techniques clearly to other team members and make sure tasks given are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound. Thirdly, to ensure by the end of the semester a successful delegation with the ability to overcome challenges and defuse conflict has been achieved. The leadership skills questionnaire has been used to identify the strength and weaknesses. The outcome measured the strength in interpersonal skills and weakness in administrative skills. This is being a challenging time but rewarding at the same time. Routinely, characteristics of a good leader were applied for example showing commitment in delegating, responsibility, being courageous, communicating effectively and always available to help. (Maxwell, 1999). As mentioned before that the present leadership is so inspiring. Tried to follow their steps, communicating effectively, delegating task wisely to the right people so that it is achieved at the right time. Indeed, the objective has been achieved for now but in future it might be useful to adapt the characteristics of leaders like Nelson Mandela. What inspires most is that he spurred or moved by a strong feeling to use all the characteristics of transformational leadership. (Theabp, 2017).
