Africa's frontier forests have largely been destroyed by loggers, by farmers clearing land for agriculture. In west asia nearly 90 percent of the original moist forest is gone and what remains is heavily fragmented and destroyed. Almost 6.8 million square kilometers of africa were original forested,the forest of africa cover 250 million hectares and constitute more than 17 percent. Trees are cut down to be used or sold as fuel or timber,while cleared land is used for livestock.
Disappearing forest cover is a particular problem in ghana,where NTFPs provides substance and income of canopy cover,defined as the conversation of forest land to other uses or a permanent,it is generally recognized that outside of urban areas. Forest products are the centre of socio economic development in ghana, to live in ghana however deforestation remains high. Ghana,deforestation is the result of a number of economic activities. legal and illicit logging clearing trees to increase arable land,fuel wood extraction and mining.
Most forests of africa cover 520 million hectares and constitute more than 17 percent of the worlds forests, and almost 6.8 million square kilometers of africa were originally forested. African forests include dry tropical forests in sehel, eastern and southern africa humid tropical forests in western and central africa, during 1990-95 the annual rate of total deforestation in africa was about 0.7 percent. Over the last 20 years, about 300 million hectares maintain of mainly tropical forests have been covered together forest issues, in africa they cut down 28 trees and only plant one to make more agriculture.
