However the majority of American society define success in a different way. According to This Is How Americans Define Success article, “A whopping 90% believe that success is more about happiness than power, possessions, or prestige.” This statistic indicates that there has been a clear change in the definition of success. Americans are no longer striving to be ostentatious, but rather devoting their lives to being happy. Growing up as a child my friends and I would always discuss how we all wanted to be successful and rich, have luxurious houses, and cars in our future. As I have matured my views have remained the same. I pursue to be successful by living comfortable and content, which requires a good financial income. A survey conducted at Strayer University in 2011, interviewed 2,011 students eighteen and older. “The survey concluded that, 67% of surveyed Americans associated success with achieving personal goals; 66% cited good relationships with friends and family; and 60% said loving what you do for a living. Without a set plan achieving success in anything will be very difficult. Building a direct plan to achieve something gives the sense of direction and decreases self doubt and other mental obstacles. Tom Corley state in his book “Rich Habits”, “People who are headed for success think for the long term. They have daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. They also come up with ways to achieve them and hold themselves accountable.” Creating long term goals is a very effective way to keep moving forward and progressing in life. Writing goals out and visually seeing it everyday as a constant reminder makes a goal more significant. Such visual aid may provide a reinforcement and stimulate a response of action. By taking action and attempting to complete a goal, you are one step closer than you would be if nothing was done. The main reason people don't achieve success and their goal is because they allow negative thoughts and distractions to sway them off path. To be successful, an individual must be very mentally strong to overcome and prevail. When I have set personal goals for myself, I always commit myself compared to when I would just simply think about achieving

His definition of success is "Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming” (pg 85). Every coach questions what their definition of success is and his pyramid helps people with their answer.

Success means to live a life in alignment with what brings us real joy. In my case, “success-joy” comes in many guises. At times, in being persistent with my current dreams, others, investing time and energy in what makes my life shine, and that is, without a doubt, when my life is at service of humanity and when I cultivate happy and healthy close relationships. I tend to define success as a state of being, a constant process of unfolding rather than a place to arrive. It is the journey of getting to know ourselves, in order to fully occupy every aspect of what we are; a forever changing aspiration, a state of being in which we realize that life’s greatest rewards spring from our capacity to relate to adversity in innovative ways. I have also discovered that real success shows up again when we debunk and deconstruct every single stereotype and assumption we have about ourselves. In this way, we feel capable to challenge what is commonly accepted as wisdom and then we have the opportunity to change and integrate our values with greater ones. There is an enormous joy when we feel free to play with the possible new scenarios that our imagination and creativity compelled us to try. A successful state of being is alert and grounded within us with the certainty, that the choices we embark on are in resonance with what we consider is the truth of what we are in that precise
What does success mean to you? I think the idea of success is affected by the social system. In America and Hong Kong, which are capitalistic societies affected by the American Dream, success means money and fame. In other societies, success might have different meanings. Some people said money and fame is the true meaning of success, but I think that the true meaning of success is to follow the interest of your own and being good at it, but not money and fame. Overemphasizing on these two factors can only lead to negative effects. Therefore I think the definition of success in capitalistic countries should not be focused on money and fame, because it restricts people from following their real dreams.
Without knowing what success is for you, you cannot know where to even start working towards your goal. As the famous Tony Robbins said, “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” This quote means that setting goals is the first step in turning what you cannot see, which might be money or power, into something that you can see. With your goals in mind, you have to spend every day working towards them. Many people set goals that are very far away and decide to give up once they begin to realize that. I have had similar experiences when I set goals that were extremely unrealistic and gave up after realizing. Regarding this matter, Confucius, a renowned philosopher once said: “When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” This quote has given me much enlightenment, and since then, I have not changed my goals, no matter how unreachable. For example, one of the goals that I’ve set that was unreachable at first was making myself not nervous when I do public speaking. I listened to what Confucius said and now, I am much calmer when speaking in front of a crowd. There are a lot of consequences to not setting small goals. If you don’t set small goals, What comes next is the strategy of the 3 secrets to
If a person were to perceive success, the individual might think of the financial prosperity, good grades on a math test, or a happy, healthy family. These are all simple yet achievable tasks in which can be seen as success. In a study conducted by Strayer University, one out of every five
Success is a term used by almost every individual person on this green and blue planet that we call Earth. Whether it is parents, college professors, teachers, bosses, co-workers, and inspirational speakers, they all apply this word to everyday life, however what does it truly mean? Success is a noun that, by definition, stands for “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” Although this is the official definition, society has a different definition for the phrase success. Society has defined the phrase success as being wealthy, having quite a few material items, having a stable well-paying job, and a healthy family as a side bonus. There are members of society
Success Everyone’s vision of success differs. Wealth, happiness, and fame are all the stereotypical aspirations of the common person’s so-called “American Dream.” My American dream encompasses more of the first two aspects than anything else. Happiness is the most important; without happiness, wealth and fame are useless. Without happiness, success cannot exist; it is your own personal gauge of accomplishment.
Even though you may think you can succeed without a plan, every decision made will either help or hinder success because all actions have consequences and people who take personal responsibility succeed. Success to one person is not always the same to another, we all have our own definitions of success. To some, success may mean money and wealth. To others good health. To one it may mean a great job or doing a job they love. And to another a great family and home life. Whatever our definition of success, it is important to find out what the means to you. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by social status and wealth; for others success is determined only by the amount of happiness one feels.

There can be no success without goals or targets. This is because success is relative to a set target and whether we have achieved it, or at least making steady progress towards attaining it. For you to succeed, set a goal, a measurable target that represents what you envision: that is what you want or where you see yourself in future. A goal should be measurable so as to enable you to monitor your progress and help you know whether you are on track or you have gone off.
