Scientifically, any moment further than this exact moment in time can be referenced to as ‘future’. Future can be described as time that is advanced or not yet experienced. Yes, the future exists, but what it encompasses is fluid; ever changing based on current decisions and events. According to the Oxford dictionary, future originates from Old French, futurus, meaning “become; that is yet to be”. It’s not tangible, yet so many broken souls put their hope in it, with reassuring phrases like “the future will be better”, or “the best is yet to come”. It’s as if the idea of future is used to comfort or relieve. How can that be when such a thing is entirely unknown? To some, the future is scary. The future is dark. He will view the future as bright and invigorating. He’s looking forward to his future because his future is college, and college means fun people, new hobbies, and furthering his knowledge. To him, the future is a new start. Now, picture the mother of three that just finalized the divorce papers with her soon-to-be ex husband, who is going through a financial hardship due to her recent unemployment. Her future is like a big intimidating storm looming over her; just the thought of it makes her feel uneasy and threatened. The unknown future could hold even harder times and doesn’t seem very promising. To her, the future is a lonely roadblock. Lastly, imagine the stage 4 cancer patient, surrounded by his loved ones, grandkids, his own children, and friends; all gathered together celebrating his colorful life. He’s been bedridden for weeks and the IV prick has started to feel second nature. Yet through it all, the old man still has a gentle smile on his face, wrinkled from years of laughter. His future? Short, to say the least. Limited to months, possibly weeks. How can he be so full of joy knowing that it’s all coming to an end so soon? By reflecting on his past, so content and full of life, his future doesn’t need to be any longer. He couldn’t be any more satisfied, looking forward to eternal life in heaven and looking back on his lively lifespan. To him, the future

For Matt I can see his future being very happy and promising. I can see him getting married to Kate de Vries and them being very rich with the hold they found in the ship. I can also see Matt graduating the airship academy and Matt getting his own ship. With Matt’s ship I think he will pilot it and hiring his own crew. In Kate de Vries future I think she will open her own museum with all the amazing new species she discovered aboard the Hyperion and in the air while on the ride to the Hyperion. I think she will have another expedition to get and obtain more species in her future. In Hal Slater’s future I think he will get an even better more advanced ship to pilot and get a better crew. I also think that Slater will accompany Matt and Kate on another expedition in the future. Then last but not least I think Nadira will have a very ominous future. “I glanced back at Nadira and I was relieved to see was still barely conscious,” (Oppel 353). I think that Nadira is a going to have a long recovery because she had been deprived of oxygen at that altitude in the air. I think that Nadira will have an odd future also because she is in trouble with the law at the moment. Nadira is a fortuneteller and gypsy, which is looked down upon in the community at the time. Nadira also got gold, so she will be able to get more stuff for herself because she used to be poor. These are the future predictions of Slater, Matt, Katie, and

For the readers out there who haven’t had the privilege of reading this book, let’s take a moment to recap and spill the beans on this unbelievably amazing piece of literature. It all starts out with the reader knowing the main character, Hazel Grace Lancaster. Hazel has had cancer since she was a little girl, the big part of this information is that Hazel’s cancer is terminal. She has a type of cancer that makes it almost impossible for her to breath on her own, this is known as stage 4 thyroid cancer. Sometime during Hazel’s life, her parents decided that she was depressed, so they've sent her to a support group. Hazel drags on and on about how horribly boring it is, but soon her perspective changes when Isaac, a friend from group brings ...

He tells her your going to be very successful in life, but he does not see himself getting a job or see Keisha becoming lawyer. This type of clue often is related to suicide. Not seeing himself in the future, means he wants to die but at the same time he does not want to die. For example, when he was saying his good bye's before he was going to commit suicide. He said that, "It's not that I don't want to die". He just does not have any other option. In fact, whenever someone tells you they are not seeing themselves in the future no more. Calmly, cheer them up and remove that suicidal

Each of us has a slightly different way of defining the word “future”. For some of us, “the future” refers simply to time. To a date. To a random assortment of letters and numbers. For others of us, however, “the future” takes on a completely different meaning.

In the world of teenagers everything seems to come and pass by so quickly. For instance the beginning of senior year. This becomes apparent in his last hours on earth when he writes “I HAVE HAD A HAPPY LIFE AND THANK THE
I don?t know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.
Others have noted that we're all travelling forward in time (in fact, the theory relativity says that we are all travelling at the speed of light through spacetime) so I'll tackle the travelling-backward-in-time part of the question. And that breaks down into issues of whether backwards time travel is a theoretical possibility, and whether it's a practical one.
