What Dreams are made of What exactly is a dream? This question has been baffling many for years without a clear answer. Many theories and comments have been made about dreams and what they could be. However, there is no way to tell if these mentioned are the true purpose of a dream. Everyone in the world has had a dream and each conclude different things from him or her. Some people believe that a dream is nothing more than our mind releasing random thoughts. Whereas, some feel there is a deep meaning to the dreaming process. However, what is strange to both is the fact that we even dream at all. What is the cause of dreams? How do they come about? Moreover, do they mean anything? Dream study is a relatively new field of study. With our advanced technology, we are now able to watch the brain as we sleep. Additionally, in doing such we can see what parts of the brain change or light up when we are in a dream state. From this research, we are able to see how dreams work in the sense that it can show us where dreams stimulate the brain. Freud felt that if a person began to desire something hard enough the desire would take over ones inner mind and cause it to be enacted in the form of a dream. He goes on to say that this all begins by us going through out our normal lives taking a few fragments from every moment and having them subconsciously tucked away in our minds. The fragments kept are typically ones we find interesting or things we like to an obsessive amount. Then by the end of the day when we go to rest, we pull those fragments out and a dream is formed.
