How do most people define success? People who aim for material life may think that success is having a huge amount of money or getting a high position. Others who do not care about material may think that success is to have a peaceful and happy life. There is no right or wrong because people define success based on their own background and experience. And for many students, success in college only equals to their academic achievements such as getting good grades and graduate with a high degree. It is a valuable idea that can lead to other successes throughout their lifetimes. Academic engagement includes having the desire to learn, to explore new subjects, and to develop innovative cogitation. People who do not have these qualities usually have a dull lifestyle because they have no life enthusiasm. Students who are successful in increasing their academic engagement are more likely to do well with their academic achievement. Moreover, Even after they graduate, these habits will stay on and become motivations to help them improve. According to San Diego State University, they know the importance of students’ academic engagement as they provide “Academic Engagement Programs” to enhance and complement students’ academic experience. Academic achievement helps students become more competitive after graduation, and college life is a great opportunity to experience social life and time management. More importantly, having a positive academic engagement can lead to other successes later on in students’ lives.
