Deborah Smyth Green is humble about receiving her “sash,” as she calls it. In June 2016, Deb was honored with an invitation to the Order of Vandalia, which recognizes supporters of West Virginia University. She was selected for her more than 30 years as a leader in the Chicago Metro Alumni Chapter of West Virginia University.
Since the Order of Vandalia was established in the 1960s, 20 percent of the 170 recipients have been women. Five, including Deb, are Kappas. Deb organized 165 alumni events, hosted visiting alumni, and recruited students to the university. Kathleen Orr, popularly known as Kathy Orr is a meteorologist for the Fox 29 Weather Authority team on WTXF in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was born on October 19, 1965 and grew up in Westckave, Geddes, New York with her family. The information about her parents and her siblings are still unknown. As per bio obtained online, Kathy Orr is also an author. She has written a number of books like Seductive Deceiver, The drifter's revenge and many others. She graduated in Public Communications from S. I. Newhouse which is affiliated to Syracuse University.

She was born on April 13, 1854, one of ten children, to Louisa and David Laney during slavery. Her parents, however, were not slaves. David Laney purchased his freedom about twenty years before Laney's birth; he purchased his wife's freedom sometime after their marriage. Laney learned to read and write by the age of four and, She attended Lewis High School in Macon. The purpose of this letter is to inform you about my interest in becoming a member of The Kappa Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I sought out membership because the members exemplify the epitome of class, grace, and standards. My desire is to inspire young girls and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. I believe in being of service, giving back to the community, and I want to continue on for years to come. Going into the transition into my college career from my freshman year until now, I have encountered many women in the organization that are very active on campus as well as in the community. On November 17, 1942 Evelyn and John VandenBosch gave birth to their first daughter, Yvonne VandenBosch. She was born in Butterworth Hospital located in the growing city of Grand Rapids, Michigan but that was not home for long. Along with her two siblings, Carol and Joan, Yvonne had a mother that could not stay planted for long. By the age of eight Yvonne had lived in Michigan, Oregon, and Texas. The moving took a toll on Yvonne’s view of life. She was always looking for something new or different, similar to the way her mother acted. Betty Marie was a girl who had big dreams of being a ballerina. Betty had an Osage Heritage and was born in 1925. She spent most her childhood on an Osage reservation in Oklahoma. Ballet had helped her get out of her shell. When Betty was 4 yrs old, she had her first ballet lesson. After her lesson, she was in love with ballet.
“Hello! What’s the reason for your visit today?” says Dr. Pauline Hunter as she begins to examine her furry patient. As a second semester freshman at Talladega College, Pauline has plans for her future, and being a veterinarian is her main goal. In order to reach her main goal, she must reach her smaller life goals to ensure that she has everything that she needs in order to be a veterinarian. Pauline’s life goals include graduating Talladega College, joining the Air Force, and going to veterinary school.
The votes were in, and on 2004, Gwen Moore was the first African-American woman to be elected a representative in Wisconsin. This was a marvelous accomplishment for Gwen to achieve in 2004. Many times, people admire Gwen for doing this. She is a very important woman in Wisconsin history for many more reasons, however. For this, believe she should be recognized more than she currently is. One reason she's important is because, she is breaking barriers for women in Wisconsin. Moore also has an important job and government role, like being a representative and previous senator of Wisconsin. Another reason that she's important, is because she wants to help others, and this is shown with a group naming her volunteer of the decade. These are a few of the reasons that I believe that congresswoman Gwen Moore, is an important Wisconsin woman. This makes Gwen a very important woman, and one that I cherish her for the work that she is doing
Alison Ferrero is a 6th grader at Martha Brown Middle School. Alison has devoted herself to basketball for Eastside, and playing softball for Fairport Little League. In Alison’s spare time she enjoys running, biking, playing the piano, and clarinet. She loves hanging out with her friends and family. Alison really likes watching movies, her favorite movie is The Parent Trap.
Heidi Sheridan went to college to see how much she could learn about a subject, which is why she ended up going to graduate school and getting another degree later. She wanted to go to college and learn, unlike many students today who go just to get a job.

Every school in the United States has one objective: to prepare the students of their establishment for the challenges that are brought upon them everyday. With this in mind, the members of the National Honors Society are displayed as the top tier of their domain; ones that are intellectual leaders, who put others in front of their needs, and are unique in every way possible in comparison to their peers. I am honored to the fullest extent about the fact that I have been invited to this professional league of students across the United States, giving me the option to reveal only a certain amount of the traits that make me an honorable member of this association. While embracing the start of my High School career, my academic endeavors have allowed me to grow exponentially as a person. The unique extracurriculars and courses that the Freshman Center have provided, allowed me to take charge of the opportunity to challenge myself academically. With that challenge, coincidentally allows for another opportunity to give back to the community; allowing to make a positive impact in subtle ways. The National Junior Honor Society provides the opportunity to do just that, and beyond. The corner stone of this Honor Society relies on the solid foundation of the five pillars: Character, Service, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership.
The National Honor Society is a prestigious institution that any high school student would admire if they were to receive admission for the program. However, not every student is qualified and capable for admission and therefore making it one of the exclusive organizations in high schools around the nation. Being exceptional and proficient in the traits of Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service is not an effortless task. Nevertheless, I truly believe that I am not only achieving those attributes, but have been succeeding consistently all throughout my educational career.
Evelyn Boyd Granville (1924-Present) The work of Evelyn Boyd Granville was important because she focused on the mathematics and physics of life and the earth. Discovering new ideas about the orbit and objects pertaining to the orbit. This research paper will go into depth of her life and through her accomplishments, such as learning math and physics, which most women in this time period did not have a chance to go through. Another reason why the work of Evelyn was so important because it is used in our everyday lives to create new things, discover new things, and to solve problems.
