Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller takes place in New York and Boston. The play kicks off in the home of Willy Loman, an aging salesman who has just recently returned from a road trip. Mr. Loman is married to Linda and they both have two sons Biff and Happy. Throughout the play, the family breathes' and exists in denial as they face a challenge to keep up with reality to reach their goal of obtaining the American dream. By all means, “Death of a Salesman” reflects on our society. Some people are prosperous and living the American dream, some are just striving to make ends meet, while others live above their means.

Biff did not confront his dads' actions. Willy enabled Biff to steal by failing to discipline him after stealing a football as a teenager by praising his actions. This behavior became a habit and that led to Biffs lazy attitude towards gainful employment, and worst of all Biff grew up thinking that he was not compelled by social rules because his dad did not abide by them. Biff's understanding of Willy as the perfect father ends following Biff's trip to Boston. The moment he discovers that Willy is having an affair, he rejects Willy and considers him being fake, He quits believing him, Instead, begins to despise him and avoids associating with him. Willy does not openly admit he was unfaithful to his wife Linda, but his son Biff is fully aware of his dad's affair of which piles more regrets to Willy's miseries. Biff has acquired most of his father's characters to fabricate and exaggerate reality in his favor. He imagines he was a salesman for Oliver, but not as a shipping clerk. At this moment she can immediately see the signs that Willy is suicidal. All his irrational behavior makes Linda keep an eye on Willy due to the possibility of him committing suicide. Even though Willy is often rude to her, she does a good job of keeping Willy happy despite the shortcomings of his fragile mental condition and his affair in Boston. She faces an awkward situation protecting Willy from confronting the sons by playing along with his fantasies of Grandeur and avoid the possibility of losing him. Willy blames Biff for ruining his life working on a farm in Texas, Linda comes to the defense of Biff with her response of Biff would first need to discover himself although Willy sees Biff's uncertainty as a sign of laziness.
Happy Lowman has acquired some of his fathers' philosophies of deceit. He lies about his status as an assistant buyer exaggerating his illusions of success. To gain power and pleasure, he entices the fiancées of three executives and ruining relationships with his co-workers.
