dead men's path: "education as an antidote for super natural beliefs" this is the story of the 20th century an educator michael obi who believes in modernisation. he went to a village with a goal of forcing it into modern age. he tried it with a little step but the consequences happened and he was unsuccessful in what he wants. in this story we can see that how people believes in spiritual and religious factors in the previous time but, now science replaced all of these factors with new discoveries and inventions. before we thought its magic now we say it's all science. the young woman who died maybe because of disease or any other problem the building that get torn down maybe by a storm or it was not strong enough. it is a coincidence that …show more content…

therefore, the situation worsened when a young woman died in childbed two days after the fence was placed. this must have reaffirmed the belief of the villagers about the village being protected with the blessings of their ancestors. when the villagers consulted the diviner he prescribed heavy sacrifices to please the ancestors as a solution for them. these factors coupled with the fear and strong belief resulted in the villagers damaging the school property as retaliation for the acts by the school management on the suggestions of michael obe. it has been happening time and again which is quite evident if we look at history of mankind that people are always unwilling to change their beliefs about things they strongly believe in. an example would be of copernicus. it will well known now that the sun is at the center and the earth revolves around it. but when copernicus came up with that theory, the church dismissed it and he was persecuted as it was a direct conflict between religious beliefs and science. in the story the author has given an example of such situations and has left the readers to make their own …show more content…

but still there are some people who believe in many spiritual thing. but as mentioned before this are still many ways these myths about spiritual and religious things can be reduced and science is working on it. i believe that the fact of these supernatural beliefs are created by those people who are less educated. the story deals with the cultural conflicts and traditional spiritual beliefs. michael was excited about all the things modern and he finds that ignoring the traditional beliefs can have great consequences. but, it is not what's true the reality can be something.
