A Day in a Daycare Imagine that the safety, and health of a one year-old rests on your shoulders, it may not be fully your responsibility, but you are an important part of it. Now multiply that feeling times two or three, that is a pretty big weight to carry on your shoulders. In today’s society, since most of the time both parents must work, daycares are a major part of someone’s life. In the past, the idea of someone leaving their child with a person who wasn't their mother, or even their family was unimaginable. There are two major types or Daycares, Child Care Centers and Family Child Care Homes. Something that both facilities have in common, is that they can be stressful at times, but a Family Child Care Home, provides various opportunities that Child Care Centers do not. When working with kids, it is important to now how to deal with stress. Stress is one of the most common reasons of why harmful things can happen, either to the kid or the person in charge at daycare. …show more content…

I observed Rosa, the owner of a Family Child Care Home. Every six months she must complete 30+ hours of childcare courses, such as ‘Child Growth and Development’, ‘Child Health and Safety’ and ‘Leadership’, in addition to that, she must have basic knowledge of CPR and administration. All of this is required by state,and every year each course must be renewed, and as Fall comes, they expect a surprise visit from an inspector, to make sure the kids are receiving the proper care. This can affect the efficiency of the rest of the employees and the mood of the kids, when Rosa, was asked about that particular time of the year she mentioned how “difficult it can get from time to time, specially since [she is] a wife and a full time mother of two teens, but is something [she has] to get done, specially since its a way to make sure the kids are receiving the best of
