There are many areas in the world that are living in absolute poverty, one of these is Darfur. Darfur is located in Sudan which is a very poor country. It is located in the Sahara desert, these harsh conditions add to the very difficult life style in the region. This nation has been going through civil wars for many years, placing even further burden on its people. According to Human Development Report 2000, over 26% of the population is not expected to live past their 40 birthday, some will die due to violence but many more from lack of nutrition and medical care. (2009) Conflict continues today in Darfur, over the last fourteen years more than 2.7 million people have been displaced by the Sudanese government .(Reeves, 2016) The ongoing conflicts must come to an end, sanctions have been imposed by the United States, but other European countries have not followed suit, by not imposing sanctions these countries are contributing to the genocide that is occurring in the Sudan. …show more content…

Africare does many things to help the people of Africa including, teaching skills that can build lifelong change for those living in the region. They help to teach new farming techniques, teach masons construction techniques, food preparation techniques and many other self-reliance based skills. Many still believe that all the hard times are behind them. Those people believe that since they aren’t the ones having to face those harsh times. However, evil still exists till this day, like the Genocide in Darfur. The subject about Darfur has always been a delicate one to many. However, there are still many in this society that still don’t even have the slightest clue about what is happening over in Sudan. There have been many genocides in the past, and the most well known is the Holocaust, but it’s sad to think that it still goes on till this day. Furthermore, there are still many that haven’t done much about it. Society needs to find out about what is happening in Darfur and awareness needs to be raised as well.
Sudan, which is located in northeast Africa, is ranked number 190 based on the amount of migrants per thousand people with a total of -4.44 migrants per thousand people. For roughly 12 years (from 2001-2013), Sudan has faced many challenges that push it’s people out of the land and pull them towards other places. These factors are known as push and pull factors. Even though there are many challenges that come with immigration, the results are more rewarding than what they would have been in Sudan. After migrating out of Sudan, these Sudanese migrants also face long-term consequences because of their decision to move.

While the 200,000 people killed during the 36 years of civil war is a large number the average violent deaths per year has increased to 54,223 in the years between 2000 and 2010 (Birns). The violence is an impact of the civil war leaving behind an inadequate judicial system and a corrupt police force without resolution by Peace Accords. The people now more than ever take matters into their own hands considering the court system leaves “ninety-seven percent of cases unsolved” (Birns). In chad, a recorded half of its people are living in poverty. That is the count of the population of Los Angeles and California combined. Most Chadians have no source of clean water or decent food. The State of Chad is actually very poor and is deteriorating as time passes by. Increased infant and child mortality rates raise almost every three to two years. It’s people depend on a source of farming to secure the little necessities most of the people don’t have. The Health system is terrible. Chad has little to no physicians, there are are also many sickness and dissaes spreading at a rapid pace, not only does this make their life worse this also increases the amount of counted deaths in the country.

This cycle can never be broken unless change is sought from within the country, not from others attempting to push the process along with funds. An attack on the Syrian state would fall within the boundaries of the international concept of the responsibility to protect. The crisis in Syria has escalated by protests in March 2011 calling for the release of all political prisoners. National security forces responded to widespread peaceful demonstrations with the use of brutal violence. The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad refused to stop attacks and allow for implementation of the reforms requested by the demonstrators. By July 2011, firsthand accounts emerged from witnesses, victims, and the media that government forces had subjected innocent civilians to detention, torture, and the use of heavy weaponry. The Syrian people were also subjected to the Shabiha, a largely armed state sponsored militia fighting with security forces. Al-Assad continually denied responsibility to these crimes and placed blame on the armed groups and terrorists for these actions.
Over one billion people are living in poverty, lacking safe water, housing, food, and the ability to read. There is a high concentration of communities in poverty in Africa; particularly Central Africa. States that are considered in Central Africa are the following: Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Republic of Africa, Chad, Equatorial Guinea and the Congo. The majority of these Central African states’ economies are dependent on agriculture. As a result of this dependency, natural disasters, droughts and wars can displace subsistence farmer from their land resulting in poverty becoming even more prevalent and harder to come back from. Also with a history of dependency on farming there tends to be the trend of education not being a primary focus for the youth which is another factor into the stagnant poverty trend in Central Africa.
There are countless causes of poverty in under developed countries such as overpopulation, disease, and how the government distributes its wealth. When you have people in developing countries have far too many children than they should and don’t have the means to take care of them you get overpopulation, when you get overpopulation you get less job opportunities, and when that happens you people who can’t take care of themselves or their children. Two factors have been shown that correlate with overpopulation which is poverty and education. When you have higher education in a community you will tend to have a decrease in birth because when people get education especially in women you will have a decline in birthrates because when they get their education they usually want to get a good job. That means that the countries make less money and the people in those countries have little money to spend on health, education, food and luxuries. People in these countries often grow their own food to feed themselves and their families. This means that lots of people in less economically developed countries are farmers.
