We hear people talking about prostitution in music, movies, shows, etc. and yet it bypasses us into this normality, we don’t really even stop and analyze what prostitution actually means. Prostitution is people (more likely to be girls and kids) who are forced to have sex in exchange for money and were mostly kidnapped and had no choice but to be in this industry. People are well aware that prostitution exists in places all over the world, some people agree with it, and yet so many of those people do not realize the actual dangers behind this act and don’t see how it’s affecting us as a society. (Remensnyder, Stacie., Kregg, Chistine., Berg, S.M. 2005) girls who try to escape are beaten and are threatened by their “pimps”, to never disobey or they will kill their family members. They are brainwashed and told that they owe some sort of “debt” and until they officially pay it off, they cannot leave. (Remensnyder, Stacie., Kregg, Chistine., Berg, S.M. 2005) These pimps manipulate them to feel shame and guilt into staying. They make they feel shame by telling them if they disobey in any way they will get punished for their act. They develop guilt from the shame.
These pimps make them feel as if they do not have a voice by silencing them and telling them that they do not matter and making them feel as if they are worthless. The media is not going to care because they will portray as if there is no wrong doings. These children have this fear of isolation from everyone that they just do what they are told and hopeful that someday they can repay their “debt”, which is most likely never going to happen. Not only is prostitution dangerous psychologically but physically as well. The health danger that these kids are placed in is life threatening. The most common disease that prostitutes get is HIV. Therefore, people believe that having sex for money is completely fine and normal. We see it everywhere, TV shows, media, magazines, music, movies, and advertisements. We do this because of the advertisement companies. Sex and violence are their number one sellers. We are all brainwashed to love this type of entertainment and we have made it okay to be presented this way. People in high power are making this crazy money off this sick industry and don’t even know it. That is why there is people who see that this type of work is normal and is a good “business” for making
