I watched a dance show in the Sawyer Center at Colby-Sawyer College. The Sawyer Center is a medium sized venue, and is mostly used for theater productions. I felt this was a typical show for this venue because it is a school theater for shows that go on at Colby-Sawyer, and the dance group was from the school. The dancers were girls who attend the college, and did some sort of dance or cheer previous to this year. Their mission in this show was to one, get a good grade, and two, to be recognized for their talent. I think the purpose was to show the audience what they get out of their class, and to put on a great performance. The show was also during the beginning of the Christmas season, so it was the perfect time of year to get people to go watch such a beautiful kind of art. I would say the concert was socially relevant because it was at a college that is in a community that enjoys traditional performances, and attend them with their family and friends. I think the relevance of this performance depends on you, and what you enjoy. It was relevant for me to go to because I had friends performing in it, so I was able to go and show them all support. I attended this dance show people my roommate was in it, and I wanted to show her some support. At least half of the audience were friends, and families of the dancers in the show. The other half were …show more content…
The performance went from ballet to hip hop. The different dances performed showed taste in the different styles, and the style that was being performed was simple to pick up. The performance affected me because how great of a talent dancing is. Seeing how the girls knew their exact steps, and used the right type of body language that went with the steps. I think this show influences me to watch more dance shows, or any kind of dancer in general. There is so many different kinds of dances, and different people who dance them with a
I chose to do my concert critique on Eric Clapton-MTV unplugged full concert-HQ January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England. Eric Clapton is my favorite rock n roll singer which has a mixture of genres. The concert was inside and on stage. The audience was seated up close to the stage which made the atmosphere comfortable; Eric and the band showed much warmth and connected with the crowd it wasn’t like the band was untouchable.
I am going to talk about the intonation, balance and blend of the Sartell High School Wind Ensembles most recent performance. The style of the pieces played were mostly themes from musicals, movies, and television shows. The pieces performed were titled Star Wars, Baba Yetu, Somewhere, Into the Woods, and What’s up at the Symphony. The concert took place on March 9th, 2016 in the Sartell High School auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
The fall dance concert, Rise, was held in the University Theatre at California State University Dominguez Hills. The individuals that helped make this concert come to life are the faculty choreographers: Amy Michelle Allen, Marco Carreon, Sarah Cashmore, Jeff Hendrix, Erin Landry, Doris Ressl Acosta, and Kenneth Walker. They were accompanied by two senior student choreographers, Alanna Neely-Sanchez and Mavra Pedraza.
For my concert write up, I attended the UCR Chamber Singers Valentine's concert on February 9th at the Culver Center of the Arts in downtown Riverside. It was a mix of ensemble pieces, solos, duos, and trios. The setting for the performance was a beautifully lit spot in the center surrounded by art. The audience seats were set up close to the performance area, in about 5 or so rows surrounding the front half of the 'stage'. By the time the performance started, it was nearly full, seemingly diverse, and made up of all ages. Certain members of the audience were very responsive to each performance and it was very easy to tell who was engaged and enjoying the show. They showed this by smiling, laughing, making eye contact, and recording, or taking
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
Learning about Dance: Dance as an Art Form and Entertainment provides visions into the many features of dance and inspires scholars to keep an open mind and think critically about the stimulating, bold, ever-changing and active world of dance. However, New York Public Schools offered ballroom dancing classes to low-income students of color, which allowed the arts to be included in their curriculum. Watching the film, I observed the positive reaction the children had to the dance classes. Overall, they were exposed to different cultures, made new friendships, became more confident, and aware of different career options such as professional dancers or singers (Agrelo, 2005).
I attended the Missouri Western Jazz Ensemble concert on February 3. I can thoroughly say I enjoyed the performance. For being a rather small band, less than twenty members, they certainly packed a very large sound. To me the band sounded as though it was very well rehearsed. There seemed no lack of confidence in there playing; you could tell they knew and enjoyed playing the songs. All of these factors made it very entertaining to watch this ensemble.
Are you focusing primarily on the musical content? Lyrical content? The general vibe or spectacle of the event? How does your evaluation reflect your cultural values?
Over Halloween weekend, Dance TCU in concert, performed at Ed Landreth Hall on the TCU campus, was a mid term showcase performed by the students in the TCU School for Classical and Contemporary Dance. The overall mood was very professional. These college level dancers performed various pieces from Giselle to video edited versions of dance to contemporary dances inspired by swing dancing. Each piece was unique and whether the style was classical or contemporary, the execution was very good. The quality of the performance was spectacular and showed all the work that everyone involved in the production has put out to perfect all the aspects of the show come together. While there were some minor technique errors, the staging, costume design, lighting,
On March 21, I attended Band & Jazz Concert at Lindhurst High School. This event was free for audience to attend and it took place in the gym from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Five different groups performed at this concert, and I attended the whole concert. Yuba College Jazz Ensemble performed second. Their performance was supposed to be conducted by Cookie Molina, but due to family emergency, it was conducted by Dr. Allan Miller.
I enjoyed the dance concert; from the thirteen dance performances was the After Part, Eternal Pointe Dreams, and Shifting Perceptions. I actually enjoyed all of the dance performances nbut the main ones that captured my attention were those three dance performances. Today when I went to the dance concert I arrived early to get great front row seats and get a pamflit to gather enough information as possible. I was still not exactly sure what to expect given the fact that the first dance performances wasnt really for me and did not capture my attention so much. Even though I enjoyed the first dance concert because I was able to participate in it. In this second dance concert I was not able to get the chance to participate in it like I did in the first dance concert but it was still such a great dance concert. The reaction from the audience members and my reaction as well towards the dance concert was that it was fantastic. I heard nothing but great coments about this dance concert. I really enjoyed everything about it. My first impression to this dance concert was that it was going ...
When attending a hip hop concert, it's important to have the right mindset before it begins. I was ready to appreciate the performances, energetic crowds and the overall energy in the arena. The crowd type was large multitude of young people and old people. Within this type of event i found it very hard not to do a review on it. Throughout the paper i will give my review on the top two performers who i thought had the best performances.
For my experience of a “traditional” concert, I had the privilege of being able to attend a concert from one of my personal favorite artists, Post Malone. This concert was held at Binghamton University in the events center, and sold out almost a month in advance of the show, so being able to attend a performance of this magnitude was surely an experience I will cherish. Advertised both by the artist himself and on multiple programs online, these programs were very minimal in information provided – many detailing only the beginning time of the concert and the opening performance, although it was clear by this information given the style of music performed at the venue, predominantly hip-hop and R&B. Upon arriving at the venue shortly after doors
Dance is a universal expression. People can easily tell stories or express how they feel through this form of art. Just like an instrument, dancing is how a dancer makes music. In general dancing has changed throughout time. How we dance now is not how it was done in the fifties and sixties. Like music dance evolves according to what is popular. Something is constantly being added to all of the different genres of dance. Although there are many different styles of dances in the world, there are some that are more popular: Zumba, Ballet, Salsa, and the most popular, Hip Hop.
