Despite a dominant 40-10 win against the San Fransisco 49ers, it is not all good news for the Dallas Cowboys looking back on Sunday evening’s showing. The Dallas Cowboy’s lost All-Pro kicker, Dan Bailey, mid game, due to a groin strain in his kicking leg. It was announced this morning that Bailey could be out for several weeks while recovering. During the game on Sunday, Bailey’s temporary replacement was Jeff Heath, a veteran safety for the Cowboys. In one of the most fun moment’s of Sunday football, Heath, who kicked in high school, managed to make NFL history for making the longest kick by a non-kicker. However, the team has made clear that this is not their permanent solution. The Cowboy’s head coach, Jason Garret, and executive vice-president, Stephen Jones addressed the teams plan this morning on Dallas radio station, The Fan. Garret explained that they will be taking this situation week by week but will look at some options for kickers to prepare as if Bailey will not be available for this coming Sunday. Further, Jones said “It’s probably not going to be Dan Bailey unfortunately. But we are going to have to look at signing a kicker because this could be more than a week at a time. So, we’ll have to look at the guys that we obviously think will do the best job for us.” …show more content…

Dallas has been spoiled with unmatched consistency in the kicking game for the 7 years that Bailey has been with the team. This season, so far, he has a perfect record with 7/7 field goal and 16/16 extra points. The Boys’, two games behind in the NFC East, are in desperate need of a winning streak in the coming weeks.
