Cupcakes are the perfect treat to enjoy at any gathering; be it a party, meeting, or a wedding, they are a delicious dessert that people love. However, cupcake wrappers themselves are far from perfect; although they’re pretty, they are inconvenient and harmful to the environment. Fortunately, Sweet Nothings will solve these issues to make the cupcake experience truly impeccable. The problem: Regular cupcake wrappers are nice to look at, but that’s about it. They have to be peeled back, they peel away crumbs of the cupcake, and they have to be thrown in a garbage can. This makes them difficult to eat on the go, and they produce waste that is harmful to the environment.

This includes mostly females, with a middle to high income level, who have purchased cupcakes before. Adults aged 25-54 would make up the majority of the consumers of Sweet Nothings, since this age range is the most likely to make environmentally friendly actions, as shown in Figure 2. Since Sweet Nothings produces no waste, it will be highly appealing to this demographic. Sweet Nothings will be positioned both online and in a variety of stores that sell cupcakes, including bakeries and grocery stores. What is the growth potential? Sweet Nothings will have multiple routes for expansion. First of all, as Sweet Nothings become more popular in Canada, they will also attract attention in other countries. Specifically, the U.S. will provide a good route for expansion to another market, as it has a 250 million dollar cupcake market. Next, when people use the online designer, they will be able to upload their designs to a database for other people to see, rate and use them. As more designs are added, the collection of available wrapper types will grow and this will add to the appeal of Sweet Nothings. Thirdly, Sweet Nothings can be extended to similar products, such as chocolate, cookies, etc. By using the same business model with other dessert foods, Sweet Nothings will be able to provide a larger range of products and appeal to even more people.
