The study of how psychological and behavioral tendencies are embodied and rooted in culture is the cultural psychology. The main principle of cultural psychology is that the mind and culture are close and equally able to establish organized existence. In other words, people are shaped by their culture and their culture is shaped by them (Boundless, 2014). The number one goal of cultural psychology is to increase the amount and different cultures that add to the theories to ensure the theories are relevant to descriptions, and predictions of human behaviors. The cultural environment is a challenging area for most global marketplaces. To understand and have an influence on consumers wants and needs, IBM must understand the different cultures.
Social Psychology The scientific study of how feelings, thoughts, and the behavior of people are influenced by imagined, actual, or implied presence of others. The presence of others can be imagined or implied means that we as people are likely to have a social influence even when no one is around. Social psychologists deals with how certain factors allow us to act a certain way when others are present. Social psychology deals with the way feelings, thoughts, intentions, beliefs, and goals are made as well as how psychological factors have an influence on how people interact with other people. Socio-cultural plays a decisive role in how a business is operated. If a business fail to identify the effects of socio-cultural factors it could very well cause them the business. The business microenvironment consists of general aspects in the surrounding of the business that has potentials to affect the business strategies. The dimensions in sociocultural in the environment pertain to the lifestyles, customs, and values that clearly characterize the society in which the business operates (Mason, n.d). Components of socio-cultural influence the ability of the business to obtain its goods and services, resources, and function in society. When the population change the demand for goods and services also change. For example, the drop in the rate of births and how health is improving have contributed to the rise in the age of United States citizens. Some businesses have developed strategies that allow them to capitalize on the aging population. Education is a factor that has opened opportunities for businesses. Higher education levels allows for people to earn more money. The increase in pay creates opportunities for consumers to make more purchases.
