Cultural Portfolio Culture can mean many different things to people. It can be a way of life, a way to dress, a certain attitude, the language you speak, and the beliefs you have. For me, culture revolves around my family and spending quality time with each other. My background has a lot to do with how we spend time together. I have many different ethnic backgrounds. Some of which include German, Polish, and Irish. The two cultures that really define me are German and Polish. The Polish portion of my ethnicity comes from my paternal side. With my paternal aunts and cousins, we cook many Polish dishes. Family is very important to this side of the family. We would drop anything and everything to help each other. After my grandfather had found a steady job and career, he was able to positively impact America. He was able to find a job making braces for children in hospitals. He found great pride in helping others who needed help. He helped many children with injuries. He helped many people throughout his lifetime. He was very good at making braces for people. My great grandfather was called to do special projects because of his unique skill of creating braces. He was called to do a special project at the zoo. A baby elephant fell into a moat that surrounded the elephant area. The baby elephant had sprained his leg when he fell. My grandfather made a brace for this baby elephant and he was able to recover from his fall. Later in his life, August moved to Florida to escape the harsh winters in Chicago. He moved to a farm where he had many cows. He also had an orange orchard, where my family would travel. This is where he enjoyed spending his time, while he was a senior. I remember he would send my family oranges, so we could have freshly squeezed orange juice. This was always a great treat for my
