Having the opportunity to be in different countries since I was a little girl, was always an advantage for me and my family due to the fact that we experienced different restaurants. Therefore, we always had the opportunity to taste excellent food. Moving from Honduras to the United States has been one of this experiences. I’ve lived in the U.S.A. since six years ago, and I noticed that the majority of food is fast food. Fast food contains cholesterol, and it is very unhealthy. In difference of, small restaurants like cuisines, and family restaurants, fast food, is a no go for my family and I. To begin with, Cuban Foods and Bakery is the only Cuban restaurant in Phoenix, but also the only one to have such an amazing variety of Caribbean food. The use of garlic, onions, different types of meat, and other spices is this Cuban restaurant’s specialty; consequently, it is a unique place to have lunch or dinner at. Because they make the well known “Cuban Sandwich”, this plate attracts most of the people that go to the restaurant, and it is my family's and my favorite plate as well. When it comes to eating a plate that is similar to the plates that we Hondurans have in Honduras, “Congri” is the perfect meal to have at this restaurant for my family and I. The mixture of rice and black beans with a touch of garlic, green pepper and onions, creates a perfect taste, and memories come back from my country. Additionally, from time to time, my cravings for cuban desserts kick in, so I drive myself to Cuban’s Restaurant and Bakery and buy the most delicious desserts. Because my strongest desire is “Flan”, I love to buy at least 5 pieces of “Flan”, it stays in my refrigerator to appease my cravings.
