In a nearby town, a tower guard notices on the morning horizon a caravan. The caravan pondered slowly across the blistering heat of the desert. From a distance the figures looked like a shimmering snake carving it's way across the dunes with a steady pace. With a uniformity of an army formation the beings appeared to be all the same midnight black with very little in size between any two of them. The guards of this town were familiar with this caravan and sent for the captain of the guard. Captain Emir stood in his office looking over reports when a young looking guard came and stopped at the open doorway. Emir a tall human with dark skin and jet black hair looked over at the guard and beckoned him in. “A tower guard spotted the rat things approaching the town,” the young guard said in a distasteful voice. Emir and Faris rode horses decorated in cloth barding with the colors of the governing king. The rest of the party followed close by on camels with concealed weapons except for a standard ceremonial saber displayed for all to see on the left side of each guard. While riding out to the caravan Emir filled in young Faris about his soon to be new duties being a liaison for their new visitors. “Sir, you want me to take charge of these rodents?” Faris exclaimed with more surprise than he intended. “I would recommend that you do not try to control anything,” as Emir kept his gaze straight ahead toward the caravan. “This is a unique opportunity that comes along every few years.” A short pause later in a snarky tone “Unique as in smelling like vermin forever,” Faris responded. “I Was hoping you will take a more positive outlook on this,” Emir casually retorted. “If you are really dead set on proving yourself right before you get started then you will learn more from this than I
