Recommended: History and career opportunities in cosmetology

I chose Cosmetology to write about. Cosmetology is the study of hair, skin, and nails. You have to be at least 16 years of age and you have to go to school for eight months to two years. To attend a normal school it will cost you anything from 5,000 to 15,000 dollars but to go to a top school it will cost you anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 dollars. You will get paid based on how big and well your company is. If your company is big then you will earn about 12.72 an hour and that is 26,460 dollars a year or more but if you are the lower working or not as big 10 percent then you will earn about 16,710 or less a year. There is an average 300,000 people employed a year for cosmetology. Some related arts and studies are Make up artist, nail technicians, hairstylist and hairdressers, and electrologist. A hairdresser and other people that work with hair are known to be in the area of cosmetology because it is the study of hair and cosmetology is the study of hair, skin, and nails.Make up …show more content…

There are many technical schools in Knoxville and a couple are Arbor College and The master Academy of Barbering. At those school there are many different ways of doing hair, you could get a buzz cut, a high taper fade, or a French crop and there are also many more to get. There are many different community colleges around here also, for example there is Pellissippi State Community College, Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville, and Virginia College in Knoxville. Most of the colleges that you go to are up to four years if you want to take the other classes that the colleges provide for education but if you just want to go for the cosmetology class you can most likely just go for a few months.
