Average is Conformity

Colin Wilson once said, "The Average man is a conformist, accepting miseries and disasters with the stoicism of a cow standing in the rain." A conformist is a person who conforms to accepted behavior or established practices. That means someone who follows others, whether it is about decision making or their attitude. In today 's society I would say that most of the people are conformist, this includes both teenagers and adults. Being a conformist in my opinion can be bad and good for various reasons. If the attitude of the specific person has changed for the better, such as a snobby boy/girl becoming more respectful, that it definitely a positive change. Bullying is to use superior strength or influence to intimidate someone, typically to force him or her to do what one wants. This happens in schools all around the country, whether it is in elementary school or in high school. I have seen bullying happen numerous times to innocent people because of the people they are hanging around. Bullying includes cyber bullying, which happens online; along with bullying that happens face to face. Typically it is not just one person that bullies, it is a group of people that pick on the one person. Most of the time, the people that follow the bully around, just do it because they rather be the "bully", then be the one being bullied. A bully has a way of talking people into joining their group. The ones that hang out with bullies normally will say things just to fit in, they are the conformist. Whether it is the bully or the followers, their attitude reflects them as a person. And when other people see that they think it is the right thing to do, because even though it is wrong their personality comes off as strong. Because honestly anyone would say that it is much easier to be mean to someone than it is to take rude compliments. I would say that bullying whether it is cyber bullying or bullying in general, is a act of conformity, because the only reason that it is a continuous thing is because other people follow the leader. Statistics show that the percentage of bullies, is continuing to grow. I think that this is happening because more and more groups are forming, and the groups have the wrong
