Conflict is unavoidable and connected to a world where different ideas and opinions are challenged. Negative conflict occurs when voices are not expressed appropriately, discussions are not in control or different parties reject moving forward with a solution. There is difficulty resolving disagreements because there are multiple reactions to disputes. However, a positive conflict supports debates without a destructive outcome. They improve communication, introduce principles that are important to others, and reduce chaos. On the other hand, the approach that a person uses to address conflict dictates the outcome they receive. It is ideal for individuals to practice problem-solving because it is meant to satisfy the needs or desires of both parties. In a work environment, a person should take into consideration the outcome of certain behaviors that can affect their professional career and livelihood. Therefore, this conflict resolution style works to one's advantage as far as maintaining neutral relationships within a workplace and introducing approaches that accommodate everyone. Advancing one's professional career requires a positive reputation and demonstrating leadership skills. Then again, not all work environments allow people's problem-solving strategies to flourish. The conflict resolution style of smoothing becomes incorporated when workers are heavily concerned with maintaining their job. For this reason, it is beneficial to acknowledge and accept various points of view to move towards a consensus. However, it is a temporary fix for a problem that will eventually resurface to respond or push back against conflicting parties. Being a smoother usually strives to avoid conflict when an issue is not as important as the relationship. There is difficulty assigning a specific method that works best for friends and family because it depends on people's personality. As well as keeping in mind that the relationship between both parties. People are not born with set values and expectations, therefore, their friends and family help define and frame who they are. Usually, those people act in someone's best interest so when conflict occurs addressing an issue can either heal or break relationships. Avoidance is labeled as one of the low conflict resolution styles because of the lack of assertiveness. Positive conflict is ideal so the outcome can be constructive, task-focused, or reduce the problem. However, there is a layer of complexity with friends and family because of the personal investment. Avoiding can be beneficial to some degree as far as reducing stress, saving time or reducing the risk of enhancing the problem. When it comes to friends and family there is a concern about hurting others and disturbing relationships so avoidance is seen as the best option. On the other hand, the lack of communication may harbor resentment between two individuals and increase the original conflict. As a whole, avoidance occasionally works well in long-term friendships or with close family members because there is more attention on building the relationship than fighting. But
