The main causes of child abuse from a conflict theory perspective would be an imbalance of power relating to economic issues, legal or political actions that deny equal rights, a cultural issues that enable violence. The conflict perspective views society as groups engaged in a continuous power struggle for the control of scarce resources. From that perspective, child abuse may be a result of social inequality.
