Condoleezza Rice once said “Life is full of surprises and serendipity. Being open to unexpected turns in the road is an important part of success. In 1993, she was the youngest and first woman to become Provost of Stanford University. The list of accomplishments that this woman has, is outstanding. She is an inspiration to any emerging leader, no matter their race, gender, or age. Rice has set a tone for young individuals by striving for her goals, but also letting life lead her in its own path and by not letting others impact her with negativity or cause her to take her mind off of her goals. She also has proved herself as a successful leader in politics. This has helped woman break the barrier and we will continue seeing more woman politicians in higher leadership
I am choosing to write my essay focusing on Nancy Pelosi, arguably one of the most influential politicians of her time, and certainly one of the outstanding ladies of the political world. Sandra Day O’Connor was the first woman to become a Supreme Court Justice. She was a remarkable person, born on March 26, 1930 in Texas. She began her education by attending Stanford and majoring in economics, then recognizing her interest in law, she returned to Stanford, and completed law school in two years as opposed to the standard three, finally graduating in 1952. After struggling to find work, O’Connor served as a civilian lawyer in the Quartermaster’s Corps in Germany, with her husband John Jay O’Connor. For six years following this, she worked as a stay at home mom raising her three sons, Scott, Brian and Jay. In 1969 she went back to work in politics, after being appointed to a vacant senate seat by Governor Jack Williams; Sandra was very successful, and was re-elected for this position twice. The year 1981, however, is when O’Connor earned what is likely to be considered her greatest achievement: she was appointed by Ronald Reagan to become the first ever woman Supreme Court Justice (biography.com 2012).
In conclusion, one may agree that Ruth Baber Ginsburg was a phenomenal woman. She has overcome many obstacles as a woman and as a Jew to achieve her success. Ruth has paved the way for other Jewish women to move up the ladder of success. She used her intelligence to fight for what she thought was right. Ruth never let anything get into the way of her career or her studies. She was a strong woman. She had goals and did whatever it took to achieve them. Ginsburg would is a great role model. Her life stories are so realistic. She faced hardships and overcame them. She started out small and is now honorable. Ruth Ginsburg would be a great person to speak young adults because of the inspiring things she has done throughout her life.

Linda Tripp therefore plays an important role in the political environment of today’s society. Tripp plays a dual role as a woman and a political figure. She is a person of great name recognition and thus she is a representative of women in our society. I think this is where the problems with Linda Tripp begin. Tripp has changed the political and societal construction of women’s’ role's, as we know them today. Her attempts to identify with other women have only perpetuated the difficulties that women have had with in the political system.
Shirley Chisholm was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Barbadian parents. When she was three years old, Shirley was sent to live with her grandmother on a farm in Barbados, a former British colony in the West Indies. She received much of her primary education in the Barbadian school Her ideals were perfect for the times. In the mid-1960s the civil rights movement was in full swing.
Not only has she graduated from two exceptional Ivy League colleges (Princeton and Harvard), she is also a lawyer. She was raised on the South Side of Chicago, had opportunities to study at prestigious universities, returned to her hometown, married, and raised two beautiful daughters. Unlike Barack, Michelle has two black parents and a black sibling, and she comes from a city readily associated with black life and politics. She even has a family tree that traces back to American slavery. Observers comfortably frame Michelle Obama as angry Sapphire figure, but how is that possible when she is one out of the few mothers who hold degrees from the most reputable schools around the world. Again, her critique was taken as evidence of her ideational anger. Michelle Obama is the most known example of an African American woman who has worked hard to become who she is today and is probably the most idealistic perfect woman. Still the success and difficulty she has experienced in gaining accurate recognition is emblematic, if not typical, of black women’s citizenship struggles. She is still only seen as the stereotypical black woman in the eyes of supremacist even though she has out succeeded the majority of people today. One could assume that Michelle Obama is someone who could be looked to as faultless representation of how black women can achieve and obtain such incredible power. Unfortunately, not even the first lady is respected even with her credentials. For example. there were attempts to frame her with the common trope of hypersexuality. In the heat of the general election fight, Fox News referred to her as “Barack’s baby mama”. Instead she fights strong against these over rationalized comments because she knows she is better than what they say. I choose to research Hillary Clinton because I admire the drive and passion she puts into her work. She is a unique global leader whose activism has promoted social change around the world. Warren Bennis, author of On Becoming a Leader author says that, “…true leaders are not born, but made, and they are usually self-made (Bennis, p. 35, 2009).” Hillary is a prominent example of a self-made leader. She invented herself as a public figure through her dedication to human rights and equality. Over the last three decades she has gained the respect and admiration of people around the world. She has spent a career working towards improving people's lives.
Clinton is the former First Lady of the United States, Secretary of State, and United States Senator. Merkel and Clinton are two women who are making a positive difference around the world as evidenced by the strong visible networks. Another example is Angela Merkel making a positive difference in the world by strengthening the transatlantic dimension while maintaining the relationships with Vladimir Putin and Jacques Chirac (Muller-Harlin). Another example is Hillary Clinton making a positive difference in the world by advancing the United States interest and political issues while pushing women’s issues (Goudreau). Clinton is holding the number four American power position as Secretary of State in the United States. Women are becoming more visible in politics all around the world. For example, people are joining the Red Cross and making a difference around the world. Women are helping to build strong economies that work for all. Women are building strong visible networks around the world as they stand up for what their community want. Women are speaking up to share the concerns of their neighbors, schools, and civic groups.
