One might assume that the person telling the story has a lot to do with the story they're telling. This is the case in the Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales." In the tale of "The Pardoner's", the voice tells a tale dealing with his famous preach; "Radix malorum est Cupiditas." In English, "The root of all evil is Greed." An ironic distinction can be made with what a "Pardoner" is known to be, the character (the voice/Pardoner), and the tale that he tells.
The aims of Boccaccio in his original 1370 version of 'Lisabetta' are far different from those of Keats who wrote 'Isabella' 500 years later. Keats has carefully analysed the original story, and selected various aspects that he thinks are important to develop into his 63-stanza poem, and has also omitted information that he sees as not important and not relevant to the core plot. The foremost topic that Keats' elaborates is the love affair between Lorenzo and Isabella. He tries to evoke many more emotions from the reader than Boccaccio does, as he believes that this is an important aspect of the story that needs to be developed. In Boccaccios story, the love between the two grows rapidly - almost instantly.
Chaucer’s book The Canterbury Tales presents a frame story written at the end of the 14th century. It narrates the story of a group of pilgrims who participate in a story-telling contest that they made up to entertain each other while they travel to the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral. Because of this, some of the tales become particularly attractive for they are written within a frame of parody which, as a style that mocks genre, is usually achieved by the deliberate exaggeration of some aspects of it for comic effect. Chaucer uses parody to highlight some aspects of the medieval society that presented in an exaggerated manner, not only do they amuse the readers, but also makes them reflect on them. He uses the individual parody of each tale to create a satirical book in which the behaviours of its characters paint an ironic and critical portrait of the English society at that time. Thus, the tales turn satirical, ironic, earthy, bawdy, and comical. When analysing the Knight’s and the Miller’s tale, one can realise how Chaucer mocks the courtly love convention, and other social codes of behaviour typical of the medieval times.
With this in mind, the objective of this essay is to focus on the main ideas of each theologian, and discuss how each theologian’s ideas are compensatory to the other. This is important because even though each theologian’s writings were inspired by the harsh realities of the societies, and also by the effect each writer experienced in their moment in history, their critiques specifically of Christian institutions remain a consistent amongst all three writings. Furthermore, not only are their critiques consistent, but their goals for providing new frameworks for the future of the Church and Christian discipleship are consistent as well.

Numerous words in our 'Modern English' are from foreign languages that are from countries that previously invaded England. Our language has been changing throughout the ages and 'Modern English' is the finished product. There are still 'slang' words developing, and many people are becoming more inclined to speak 'slang'.
The chapter gives the background of Francis. He hailed from a well-off family and through the education he was able to access from the priest of his parish church, his spiritually developed. Francis even strips his secular clothes and becomes naked to the public just like “Christ and Adam” (Cunningham 20). The chapter helped me understand the transition of Francis into a performer. In addition, I learned about the importance of education in regard to the Christianity of Francis. The knowledge of this chapter is helpful in appreciating the grandness of education to the life of an individual.
Geoffrey Chaucer was a man with an interesting life to say the least. From imprisonment and royal service to being renowned as one of the greatest poets and writers of the 1300s. Chaucer's life had many mysteries to it as well such as what intrigued him to write The Canterbury Tales, one of his most famous works.

Cyril of Jerusalem understands this goal for catechumens and wrote the Procatechesis in order to guide and lay the foundation for ultimate fulfillment. Two of the greatest masters of British literature, Shakespeare and Chaucer, tended to look to the classics when searching for inspiration. A lesser-known example of this lies in an ancient tale from Greece about two star-crossed lovers. There are many variations on the names of these lovers, but for the purpose of solidarity, they shall henceforth be referred to as “Troilus and Criseyde” for Chaucer and “Troilus and Cressida” for Shakespeare. Chaucer’s “Troilus and Criseyde” offers up a classic tale of love that is doomed, whereas Shakespeare’s “Troilus and Cressida” is not only tragic but also biting in its judgment and representation of characters. This difference may be due to the differences in time periods for the two authors, or their own personal dispositions, but there can be no denying the many deviations from Chaucer’s work that Shakespeare employs. Shakespeare’s work, by making the characters and situations more relatable, builds upon Chaucer’s original work, rather than improving it or shattering it.

He was a familiar and indispensable part of the court, and acted as a royal servant for three kings and two princes” (Ackroyd xvi). As a young adult, Chaucer was tasked with important and “perhaps clandestine” diplomatic missions (Ackryod 29). Chaucer’s skill and work ethic earned him the title of a “familia” of the king. This term represented that this individual was to be protected and cared for under order of the king (Ackroyd 24). Because of his role in the court, Chaucer had a unique opportunity to witness, understand, and interpret the societal changes and behaviors of England during his lifetime.
