Comparison Between The Others and The Sixth Sense
The blockbuster movies 'The Sixth Sense' and 'The Others' are two of
the best examples of supernatural thrillers you will ever see. Both
storylines are gripping and compelling and there are many unsuspected
twists and turns along the way.
'The Sixth Sense' and 'The Others' have comparable storylines because
they are both based on the idea of a parallel universe in which
supernatural and human beings are closer than anyone realises. Both
movies have an ability to keep you guessing throughout and
unexpectedly surprising you.
'The Sixth Sense' is about a distinguished child psychologist, Dr
Malcolm Crowe who is haunted by the painful memory of a disturbed
young patient he was unable to help, so when he meets Cole Sear, a
frightened, confused eight-year-old boy with a similar condition, he
seeks to redeem himself by doing everything he can to help him. But
Malcolm discovers more than he thought he would when the boy reveals
he can see dead people. The movie is very emotional and ends when
Malcolm himself discovers that he is also dead.
'The Others' is about a woman named Grace and her two children Anne
and Nicholas. They live behind the locked doors and drawn curtains of
a huge secluded mansion. Out of nowhere, three mysterious servants
arrive and it becomes clear that there is far more to their house and
family that can be seen. Grace finds herself in a horrifying fight to
save her children and keep her sanity. This movie also ends when Grace
finds out that she, along with her children and the three servants are
dead.

woman who has a strict idea of life. She is very organised and likes
to know what is going on at all times. She is strong willed and is
quite intimidating. This is all shown with the use of the camera
because when the camera is on Grace it is always pointed upwards as if
she is really tall. When the camera is showing Grace looking at
someone else it is pointing down.
Overall I think the movie that I preferred the most was 'The Others'
because it was very unpredictable and it captivated my attention
because there was always a new twist or turn to be discovered. I was
forced to watch very carefully because I did not want to miss
anything. The film was very mysterious and I think the ending lived up
to the rest of the movie. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole
way through.

Le Guin’s “The Ones who walk away from Omelas,” illustrates a communal form of injustice tolerated for the benefit of the entire city but necessitating the inhumane imprisonment of a child. He portrays the ambiguity of human morality and the individual struggle to determine right from wrong. The authors address social change and power in different ways, reflective of their individual perceptions. Hence, in each narrative, the author illustrates the individual’s role in effecting social change and the conditions under which such change becomes possible.

Comparing Dangerous Liaisons by Choderlos de Laclos and Cruel Intentions the Movie It is my intention to compare the book, Dangerous Liaisons by Choderlos de Laclos, to its modern movie version, Cruel Intentions, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. I went into a couple others but immediately left; let’s just say horror is not my favorite genre of film. Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock is a horror film that debuted in 1960, starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh. (IMDb) This horror film changed the horror movie genre, helping to develop it into what it is today. This film tells the story of a woman who runs off with $40,000 stolen from her boss. On the run, she checks into an abandoned motel for the night where she dines with the owner, a young man with an overbearing and controlling mother. She never checks out. Her family and friends embark on searches for her, and come across the abandoned hotel where she checked in, under a false name. The movie ends with the revelation that the hotel owner’s mother died, and he suffers from multiple personality disorder. Both he and his mother share his body, with the mother personality becoming more dominant. When he dined with the lady who checked in, the mother became jealous and kill her, leaving the son to clean up the mess left behind.
After reading the book and watching the movie 1984 there were similarities and differences between the two. The novel is about manipulating people in believing in something that isn’t really there and about erasing history. Both the book and film focused on: authority, government, and war. The book and film follow the theme of conformity to control society.
