When someone is being treated unfairly, it is wise to show courage by standing for them. Courage is doing something even when it is frightening. Over the course of the novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry, Mildred Taylor uses Stacy Logan as an example of the oldest boy that must stand up for his convictions even though there were many injustices against him and his entire family. Stacy provides this courage by giving his coat to T.J even though he could have been punished, and when he discouraged T.J from cheating. Stacys actions prove that he is the oldest kid in the family ,and he thinks he needs to be responsible for keeping others in line. Stacy Logan is the most courageous character because he does the exact thing in the book. In fact, Stacy gave his coat away to T.J.Stacy had a jacket that was a prized possession because, Stacy and his wrote family were not use to getting many new items. Uncle Hammer had bought the expensive coat just for Stacy. Stacy knew how to read T.J when T.J made fun of Stacy´s jacket he knew T.J was too prideful to just ask for the jackets. So stacy took it upon himself to be courageous and give it to T.J without making him beg for it.He knew giving this expensive jacket away could get him in serious trouble with his parents. He tried to explain to mama and uncle Hammer that T.J said that he looked like a preacher. “Not go get the coat!”Cried Big Ma. Uncle Hammer looked up sharply from his paper but remained silent. “Stacy Mama said irritable,”bring me that coat boy.”But Mama I really ain't got it! I gave it to T.J “said Stacy. (Taylor,141).
