God’s Favorite Monster: Paradise Lost Position Paper When comparing John Milton’s Paradise Lost, and Mary Shelley’s, Frankenstein: A Modern Prometheus, the similarities between the characters are uncanny. One could speak of God and Victor Frankenstein, neglectful, bitter, somewhat cruel creators, both watching their experiments suffer; yet, the most stark comparison would be between the two outcasts themselves, Satan and Frankenstein’s monster.
