Paragraph one. Ah yes let's talk about Macbeth and King Ahab. Now I know that many don't know who King Ahab was but who really needs to know who he was when MACBETH WAS 100% COPYRIGHTED FROM HIS LIFE. So if you know Macbeth, you know King Ahab. Macbeth was from the Shakespeare play Macbeth, where he killed people for his power. King Ahab was a King in Israel from 871-852 B.C. who was viewed as their most evil king. Although Macbeth is just a character from a play, his life follows the life of King Ahab in many ways. I will now write about how alike they are so you can believe me. Both Macbeth and King Ahab were terrible rulers, disliked by many. In Macbeth’s case, we hear his nobles gossiping about the “current events” of the time showing not only their dislike of him, but also others dislike. “For from broad words, and ‘cause he failed/His presence at the tyrant’s feast, I hear/Macduff lives in disgrace.../Fly to the court of England and unfold/His message ere he come, that a swift blessing/May soon return to this our suffering country/Under a hand accursed” (Shakespeare 3.6.25-26,53-55). The words used by the noble in this shows their true feelings for Macbeth- he is an awful tyrant. The very fact that he can talk about his hate towards Macbeth with other nobles around him show that they are also in agreeance with him or else he would be charged of being a traitor. However he isn’t the only one who dislikes Macbeth being on the throne. Macduff showed his disapproval by not showing up to Macbeth’s feast. To be blunt, the same situation was happening in Ahab’s time, for “many considered him the worst ruler that ancient Israel ever had” (“Who Is King Ahab” 1). That’s a huge deal taking into account the many rulers that Israel had. The fact that he was the worst ruler also reflects Macbeth because many of the people in Macbeth felt like he was the worst ruler as Macduff shows in his conversation with Malcolm. “Bleed, bleed, poor country!/Great tyranny…/For the whole space that’s in the tyrant’s grasp”(Macduff) “I think our country sinks beneath the yoke./It weeps, it bleeds, and each new day a gash/Is added to her wounds” (Malcolm) (Shakespeare 4.3.41-45,49-51). Both Macduff and Malcolm agree that their country is dying due to their terrible ruler Macbeth, and they hate him for it.
