William Bradford and Mary Rowlandson are very well known for their Puritan faith. They both have different journeys involving their faith and beliefs. However, Mary Rowlandson and William Bradford have the same religion and beliefs there are differences to compare and contrast. The Puritans religious ideas and their beliefs were influenced by the enlargement of the New England colonies, economically, politically, and socially. Mary Rowlandson experienced a kidnapping however she survived that horrific incident. After that occurrence in her life, that led her to renew her faith in Puritanism. These Puritans were strongly opposed to the church of England. They felt that the church had become corrupt and defiled because of the idolatrous worship. They began to meet in secret until one day they were discovered. Among these was Wilford Bradford, a young man who joined the Pilgrims religious group. In later chapters we see an older Bradford becomes Governor of the Plymouth colony who is also student of the Hebrew language;for he believed that he would achieve a stronger connection with God. Over the centuries, writing has changed, and it is still changing today. There are also many different types of writing that are taught and studied. Three major types are considered the classics. Those three categories are poetry, drama, and prose. Throughout history, writers have stood out from other in their time. The three that will be the focus of the analyzation and comparison are Anne Bradstreet, Thomas Paine, and Phillis Wheatley. All of them have different backgrounds, different styles but have one thing in common. They are all are writers who are considers major contributors to the classics.

True colors often show when people least expect it and many would be surprised. In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, “The Great Gatsby”, Tom Buchanan and Jay Gatsby may seem like very similar people, but there is more than meets the eye.
The narrative that Rowlandson wrote was originally titled “The Sovereignty & Goodness of God, Together with the Faithfulness of His Promise Displayed: Being a Narrative of the Captivity and Restauration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson Commended by her to all that Desire to Know the Lord’s Doings to, and Dealings with Her. Especially to her Dear Children and Relations.” In 1682, the title was dropped and republished the narrative under the title “Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson” which is best known as today. This book is separated into “removes.” The first three “removes” focus on her desperate efforts to care for her dying daughter. The rest of the “removes” focus on the difficulties she faced while being kidnapped and held captive.
There are various things that make up a piece of literature. For example: choice of diction, modes of discourse, and figurative language. Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano were great examples of authors that used these elements of literature. There are similarities and differences in A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson and From Africa to America. Though Mary Rowlandson and Olaudah Equiano shared similarities in experiences, they had different writing personalities, purposes, attitudes, tones, and relations with their communities.
Rowlandson’s journey was uncommon among Puritans of the time. She saw a more humane side of the savage, evil Indians that most Puritans did not or refused to see. Although she attributed their compassionate and humane behavior to god, she did acknowledge it, which was a first among Puritans. Though she may not have done it intentionally, Mary Rowlandson became one of the first Puritans to treat the Indians like human beings in their writing.
Slavery in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries consisted of brutal and completely unjust treatment of African-Americans. Africans were pulled from their families and forced to work for cruel masters under horrendous conditions, oceans away from their homes. While it cannot be denied that slavery everywhere was horrible, the conditions varied greatly and some slaves lived a much more tolerable life than others. Examples of these life styles are vividly depicted in the personal narratives of Olaudah Equiano and Mary Prince. The diversity of slave treatment and conditions was dependent on many different factors that affected a slave’s future. Women have faced oppression in the literary community throughout history. Whether they are seen as hysterical or unreliable, women writers seem to be faulted no matter the topics of their literature. However, Anne Bradstreet and Margaret Fuller faced their critics head-on. Whether it was Bradstreet questioning her religion or Fuller discussing gender fluidity, these two women did not water down their opinions to please others. Through their writings, Bradstreet and Fuller made great strides for not just women writers, but all women.
The puritans were very religious. They wanted to show everyone what happens if you are good and believe in god and the heavens. If you do bad things you would be punished or be killed. If you do good things you can be hand chosen to go to heaven.
The United States has had many great leaders and heroes over its two hundred and thirty-nine years of existence. However, few people are able to stand out with such a wealth of amazing people concentrated in one country. Those who are able to are remembered with a special kind of honor only bestowed upon those who have truly changed the world. Two men who left their mark on the world and America are known as two of the best presidents the United States has ever seen. George Washington and Ronald Reagan, though from completely different times, demonstrated great strength, integrity, and wisdom throughout their lives and careers. President Washington helped form this great country and stood for freedom and was willing to die for it. President Reagan helped rebuild America and stood up against the Soviet Union and Communism. Both Presidents left their mark on the United States and ended their presidency with similar, yet very different farewell speeches. These speeches were the last addresses the presidents gave in office, and they spoke with incredible wisdom intending to leave America in good hands.

When looking at the natural world one can clearly see an order in the occurrences within. Examples ranging from the 4 seasons, to the life cycle of every being, or even to the rising and setting of the sun on a daily basis, depending on your location in the world. With all of the orders comes a certain peace. We tend to seek out this peace after a bad day or a stressful week in the form of ‘Calming Sounds of Nature’ a half an hour of chirping birds, flowing streams, a gentle breeze across oats, or even the pitter patter of rain drops falling into the upper canopy of a rain forest. All of which we overlook and take for granted on a regular basis. Yet both Bradford and Emerson saw the value in observing our natural surroundings. Both me believed that the natural world provides us with a path to reach a higher calling.
