Two Front War and the Schlieffen Plan Essay First, you have to understand what the Two-Front War and Schlieffen Plan were, the Schlieffen plan was the plan Germany made for war against France and Russia. The plan itself was created by the German Chief of Staff, Alfred von Schlieffen under the request of Wilhelm II. The thing was that in a general European war, Germany would face France in the west and Russia in the east, and would need to win against France within six weeks before Russia mobilized their troops.
