The “American Dream” of one day owning a home is still alive and well among Millennials. I think this dream is visualized in more ways than it was before. I am considered a Millennial; I am 22 years old and I purchased my first home this year. There are not a lot of people my age that own a home so I consider myself very accomplished. This was a huge dream of mine which I achieved at only 22 years old. I couldn’t wait to move out of my parents’ house and start creating my own family with my boyfriend and our dogs. I believe that Millennials still have that “American Dream” but the part of owning a home may be different. Recently, a lot of people have been renting homes. I think that this is a huge factor in the “American Dream”. Renting has an appealing affect. You can stay in either a house, apartment, condo and not be responsible for ownership. You can stay there by paying rent. Some would say it’s an easier process than owning a house. It’s easier to get out of a contract than it would be with owning a house. If you rent, you sign leases that are only a certain number of months long. With owning a home, you have that house until you decide to put it up for sale. Even after you put it up for sale, you have to then find a new place to live and you will still own that home until someone else comes in and buys it. …show more content…

There could be restrictions on how you can decorate it, you are in a contract the actual owners so what they say goes. There could be restrictions on other things like if you can have pets, the amount of people that could stay over, and there could be other restrictions as well. It might be convenient for the time being but you are paying a bill that won’t benefit you in the end. When you own a house, you pay your mortgage and after so many years you pay it off and no longer have mortgage payments. When you rent, you have a monthly rent bill no matter how many years has gone
