I grew up in a house where dedication to school is the primary focus during adolescence. In addition to acquiring a good education, I was taught to get involved in causes that help others. From a very young age, my parents taught me to strive for the best and finish every task you start with excellence. School and dedication to community service happens to be two of those tasks. My upbringing is one of the reasons I grew to be involved, determined, committed, and humble as well as dedicated to my community. I was taught to finish tasks, do them well, but also not to boast about achievement or generous acts. One of my strongest attributes is service leadership. I help lead as a Cavalette (dance team member) and on the campus ministry. Since I am a fourth year Cavalette, I serve by mentoring new Cavalettes and helping them to become acclimated to high school as well as to dance. Youth Ministry teaches teens and young children about spirituality and service. As a result, I am involved with children in the surrounding neighborhood by assisting with many outreach events that impact their daily lives. Two such events are Annual Youth Day and The Night Out Against Crime Event. Annual Youth Day is an entire Sunday given to the young people of the church. We invite children and families from the area to attend. I assist in creating skits, singing, dancing, and reciting poems that entertain and enlighten visitors and members. The event is a culmination of youth-centered activities where we host children inside and outside the church. The NOAC is another way I serve my community. Each year, I am a member of the committee that coordinates clothing and food drives, and health and safety information to the local community. I assist in inviting local police and judges to meet with the youth from the surrounding area to advise them on getting pulled over by law enforcement and properly handling situations with police officers, which is a relevant problem in America
