Seyifa Jarso Community Organization Interview Community leadership is not just about taking the responsibility and guiding the community and the individuals on the right track. True leadership is understanding the needs of the community and individuals that you have the privilege to server. To be a great community leader you must sacrifice many important things in your life in order to achieve greatness for the community you love and care for. As a community organization Ethiopian Community Association of Chicago is fighting to end homelessness in the community, by helping the members look for affordable housing. This community organization profoundly understand the importance of affordable housing. Without such community help, most of the people in this community cannot find housing which they can afford. Many refugees and immigrants go though many struggles just to get to the United States, not having a house they can afford, can indeed add more stress into their life. Affordable housing can contributions to their well-being. Further, mental health is a huge issue in many immigrant’s communities, people often do not talk about this issue because they think it is abnormal, and sometimes do not get accepted by their family. However, many of the staffs including Biniyam Beyene are creating more awareness about mental health and working hard to stop the stereotype about the mental health in their community. Community engagement is very important to strengthen the relationship between the individuals within the community. This motivate and empower people to take part in community activities which likely benefits the members to learn new skills and help them increase feeling of helpfulness and responsibility. In addition, reflecting on their practices is very significant as individuals benefits from community engagement, it is vital for each member to reflect on what they learn and perhaps share the knowledge with other community members. When we face problem, we approach it as a community and solve it in creative way
