Introduction Today, organizations, workgroups, teams, and individuals must work together in new ways. Nowadays Inter-organizational collaboration is increasingly important. Communities of practice provide a new model for connecting and collaborating people in the spirit of learning, knowledge sharing, and collaboration as well as individual, group, and organizational development. Here we consider a Community of Practice (AJS) which benefits the organisation (NTU) and also members (students) facing job related problems. There are three required components of CoP. Domain  Generate and discover new knowledge. It is concerned that the members are expected to go beyond current practice to explore the cutting edge of the domain, to innovate. Community may redefine its boundaries and membership and foster boundary-crossing, possibly working with people from other communities to explore emerging technologies, practices, and ideas. A CoP has an identity defined by a shared domain of interest; it’s not just a network of people or club of friends. Membership implies a commitment to the domain. Community  Take purposeful action to carry out tasks and projects. A necessary component is that members of a specific domain interact and engage in shared activities, help each other, and share information with each other. They build relationships that enable them to learn from each other. In this way, merely sharing the same job does not necessitate a CoP.
