Equality is not the best policy
Literature is an art of expressing someone’s ideas through the use of texts. Literature is someone’s passion, history or even culture. Literature is so powerful that it can start a revolution or end one. Literature can connects two contradicting ideas, and make them seems that they’re related. Literature is a way to adore or criticize someone’s theory. Without literature we will not exist. Kurt Vonnegut is an American writer who uses literature to express his thoughts, and criticize other’s beliefs. One of his famous work was “Harrison Bergeron” which emphasize that equality among the society will just cause destruction than good. Through the use of Marxist Criticism, Vonnegut managed to criticize the disadvantages of communism. Remember it was written in 1960, where communism was actually a big deal, so criticizing it can get you in trouble or even killed. Even though Vonnegut knew all these risks, he still decided to use Marxist Theory to write a master piece to criticize Communism and persuade the readers that truth about equality.
Marxist Criticism is based on the political, social, and economic theories of Karl Marx. Karl Marx a German philosopher created Marxism in the middle of 1800s. He said that communism and socialism is the best way to govern a society. Basically he’s ultimate goal is to promote communism which is based upon a classless society which means there’s no upper or lower class with equal opportunity. WHich we can see that it directly opposes capitalism which is the economic system we have in United states which based upon on individual opportunity. Using Marxist Criticism to analyze a story such as Harrison Bergeron really gives you the high points of the story because it focuses on a communist perspective throughout the whole process. As far as other text goes Marxist Criticism helps the readers to focus more on class relationship, economy and politics. Marxist Criticism can also influence our thoughts in general. For example, if I were to critique the role of a hotel manager using Marxist criticism. I conclude that a hotel manager tend to offer the highest quality room to the high prioritize people such as Actors, Lawyer and Engineer compare to regular people who has a less recognize occupations such as Painters, carpenters etc. Marxist Criticism really contribute a lot in literature because it gives foundation to socialist and communist writers to express their thoughts and idea.
