People rely on communication to relate with each other effectively and efficiently. Without this vital process, it would be difficult to exchange ideas, opinions, thoughts, suggestions, and creative concepts that can be transformed into lucrative innovations. For that reason, this process affects the function of human beings in a profound way. Therefore, it is imperative to understand how communication occurs in terms of the steps involved and the elements incorporated in the process. In this light, communication is a continuous mode of exchanging messages that are oral and non-verbal in kind.
The prime objective of communication is to relay information from one individual or group to another. A message is a necessity of communication and it should be expressed through a channel to the receiver. Understanding the message is highly important as it helps in conveying an appropriate reaction. In this case, the receiver is expected to respond to the sender within a given timeframe. Additionally, communication is not a monologue but a dialogue. Thus, it suffices to say that communication is regarded as a two-way approach that is not completed without the sender providing a response from the receiver concerning how well he or she has grasped the message.

To curb noise as a barrier, it is important to pay attention and this can be executed through putting away any distraction. This can include switching off the television, radio, or cellphone, in order to focus on the message. Using simple language can help in understanding and interpreting information. In the event of a possible language barrier, an eligible interpreter can be used as a channel of communication. It is crucial to be open-minded, optimistic, and willing to embrace diversity in order to evade personal barriers that can promote ineffective communication.
