Coming to a totally new country can be difficult if a person has no knowledge about the country. It's stressful when the language makes it difficult to communicate with others. Its also embarrassing when a grown person has to ask what does the sign above a shelf, says or when people can’t help out because they simply can’t understand what you are trying to say.
In the book Outcast United it’s about people that come to a new country, not knowing anything about the laws, religions, and tradition. The book explains how the kids struggle learning a new language and how they tussle in school to be able to fit in and be able to be like the other kids. in the book kids come together and play soccer.

These kids were joining gangs just to be able to be like the blonde hair kid with pale skin.Throughout the book i could connect to their situation about being the new kid in a new country where everything was different. These kids were taught new holidays that seem strange for example Halloween. I had never had a Halloween until I arrived here. I never thought it was a real thing people in America did. In the book it explains how getting treats from strangers was not safe for the kids. Many parents had a fear that they wouldn't be safe to eat and many people didn't have enough money to buy candy and give it away to strangers coming up and knocking on their door. Parents in the book were afraid of their kids being outside because of what they had been through in their country. The parents wanted to have the kids isolated in the small apartment for their safety. I can kind of relate to this, my parents are really protective. They didn't want anything bad to happen to me. Drug abuse was so rampant that the drug lords literally kept shop in an abondoned building in the progjects, and shooting was everywhere. Also, there were no drug rehabilitation programs or centers to help combat the problem. Police feared going into the ghetto out of a fear for their own safety. The book follows Pharoah and LaFayette over a two year period in which they struggle with school, attempt to resist the lure of gangs, mourn the death of close friends, and still find the courage to search for a quiet inner peace, that most people take for granted.

Chris and Doughboy, two brothers in gangs, live with a single mother. Chris is headed for an athletic scholarship and there is hope he will escape gang life, however, with no mentor this does not happen. Tre is a young gang member whose father is always there in the background, and this is what keeps him alive and gets him out of gang life eventually. The movie makes a clear the point that if a child is watched by some adult who cares from early childhood, they stand a better chance of surviving the urban gang life they cannot escape otherwise. Scenes from the early childhood of the three boys foreshadows this as Chris and Doughboy are in juvenile hall as children, while Tre is spared this as a result of his father looking over him. This theme will continue throughout the film. The landscape of the urban ghetto and the legacy left to black youth, and the death it brings upon them is well portrayed in the film.
The novel, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about a boy named Ponyboy who belongs to a group called Greasers. There are 2 types of gangs in the novel; Greasers and Socs. The Socs look down on the Greasers because they had a low social status. Being an outsider produces a feeling of inferiority, isolation and even violence. In the following paragraphs these feelings will be fully explained.
New country means new language, new culture, new people and different lifestyle. I never thought of being somewhere where you don’t know the language and people. For my parent and me the difficult part was learning new language. Since, I and my sister were going to school, so we knew Basic English. There is nothing quite like traveling, going someplace new and finding out more about the world and yourself. Anyone can become a traveler it just takes a little bit of faith and courage. Traveling across the world or even across the country is a learning experience. When you are a traveler you see how people live and how different cultures work. It is the best educational experience you could give yourself. You see how the world works in a way no one can teach you. Seeing different cultures and people help build the person you want to be. If you are a traveler the world influences you, because when traveling, you see the good and the bad, and you learn from the right and the wrong.
