One PGE that is an area of strength for me is S1. I am proficient in S1 because I am skilled at public speaking. I engage the audience, use the proper speaking tone, and know my material. I use my confidence and speak loudly and clearly to the entire class. I make eye contact frequently with the audience and use a broad variety of words. I have been proficient in previous presentations including multiple last year. I feel that PGE S1 is an area of strength for me. An entry that illustrates this area strength is the “Columbian exchange presentation project.” I picked this entry as an example because I proficiently met the S1 standard, by making a presentation in order to share information. I felt that my presentation was exemplary and I demonstrated mastery of the topic. I engaged the audience and practiced beforehand to ensure that my presentation went very smoothly. I practiced my pronunciation and memorized my information as best as I could. I made constant eye contact with the audience and varied my tone of voice to make it sound more interesting. I received an 100 on this presentation …show more content…
W1 may need more improvement because I find that I struggle with narrative writing, and lack some of the important features a well written paper has. I can improve this skill by working on my narrative writing techniques- such as use of detail, structured event sequences, grammar, and word choice. Overtime, PGE W1 will improve as I write more and more. I feel that W1 is an area in need of improvement for me.
An assignment that is an example of this would be “Creating an original work of fiction.” In this assignment, I could use improvement on my writing structure, event sequences, and details. W1 will improve with more practice, and writing workshops. Every essay I write, I will improve more on my writing skills. I will take more advice from the teacher, and put extra effort into every assignment; I will write more
Columbian Exchange, which also call the Grand Exchange, is an exchange of animals, crops, pollution (European and African), culture, infectious diseases and ideology between the eastern and western hemisphere in 15th and 16th centuries. Alfred W. Crosby first proposed this concept in his book “ The Columbian Exchange”, which published in 1972.
The Columbian exchange was the widespread transfer of various products such as animals, plants, and culture between the Americas and Europe. Though most likely unintentional, the byproduct that had the largest impact from this exchange between the old and new world was communicable diseases. Europeans and other immigrants brought a host of diseases with them to America, which killed as much as ninety percent of the native population. Epidemics ravaged both native and nonnative populations of the new world destroying civilizations. The source of these epidemics were due to low resistance, poor sanitation, and inadequate medical knowledge- “more die of the practitioner than of the natural course of the disease (Duffy).” These diseases of the new world posed a serious
The Colombian Exchange was an extensive exchange between the eastern and western hemispheres as knows as the Old World and New World. The Colombian exchange greatly affects almost every society. It prompted both voluntary and forced migration of millions of human beings. There are both positive and negative effects that you can see from the Colombian Exchange. The Colombian Exchange explorers created contact between Europe and the Americas. The interaction with Native Americans began the exchange of animals, plants, disease, and weapons. The most significant effects that the Colombian Exchange had on the Old World and New World were its changes in agriculture, disease, culture, and its effects on ecology.
Knowing what I can do well is just important as knowing what needs improvement. My strongest attributes are being able to perform under pressure and multitasking. This is necessary to sell products and perform services that benefit the customer. The value of getting the job done correctly and on time correlates to returning customers and repeat business. My competitive advantage over others in the same industry is the high level of service we offer. I don’t just push a product on a client. I listen to what they want and need, make suggestions for the best available solutions; and I also help them with cost savings and environmentally friendly alternatives. One weakness I have and need to work on is public speaking. As I grow in my career and move into managerial leader positions, I will have a lot more opportunities to give speeches. I plan to work on my public speaking skills by practicing and making incremental changes to constantly improve. It’s not a matter of being shy in front of a group. It’s more of a point to be well prepared for the occasion and motivated to do a good job. To stay prepared for opportunities and change, I plan on continuing my education in the business field, and learning as much as possible about my job. I will also need to stay up-to-date with current issues in my external and internal
Throughout this semester we have had to write many types of essays. Although this is a college English class there is still room for improvement. I made much improvement during the semester of the class. I was able to identify my weaknesses. I learned how to make improvements to the areas I was having problems in. Although each essay we did was different I was able to begin with one essay and throughout the semester turn it into two other essays. I was able to change my style of writing to fit the type of audience I was working with. I will continue to work on my writing and keep improving it.
3. Slides – I think my slides were very clear, and well-visualized for audiences. I guess my slides easier to understand my slide than my speech.
My strength according to the assessment is being responsible and having integrity, in addition I like to know what is expected of me from day to day (MBTI Basics, 2015). So that I
One of my strengths was in Cultural integration, which I feel is very true for me being raised in Los Angeles and being intermingled in a diversity of cultures. With the salad bowl of people and the multiply cultures i came in contact with, I feel this has helped for me to see everyones ways. My other strength was in Empathy, again i feel this is true about me. I work in Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) at the college and love working with all types of students in need of accommodations to help to succeed in college.
My strengths were taught during my Composition 1 class this year. I learned how to unify paragraphs like a professional. Unifying and developing paragraphs has always been a struggle for years; therefore, I have overcome that weakness and is now considered a
Writing is a subject that needs improvement. As a writer I am going to have my strengths and weaknesses no matter how much time I spend on improving my writing. With many resources available including the CRC, writing lab, and my Composition I teacher, I can improve upon my writing skills within a matter of weeks. Improvement will take a lot of work, it will not be easy but with the help I get from all the resources I have available I know I will become a better writer, or improved writer by the end of the semester.
... be significantly improved if the group rehearsed through the presentation more. Also if the group performed the presentation in front of a small group of people. Being able to do this would allow the group to become less stressed at performing to a larger group and become more relaxed at talking to people. If these weaknesses are worked on, then they shall become strengths in future presentations.
In public speaking I learned many types of concepts, theories and terms of communication. In concepts of publicly speaking there’s, relaxation, practice, credibility, attention getters, attire, organization, volume, emotion, audience relation, and movement. In my first speech, “The any old bag speech” I quickly learned the do’s, don’ts and concepts of my speech performance.
During my speech, a couple ways where I believed I excelled in was staying within the time limit, being engaging/outgoing, and using an active visual aid.
A strength of our PowerPoint was that it well planned in advance. By this, I mean that we had evaluated ourselves to understand our personal strengths and weaknesses of presenting. For instance, when I evaluated myself, my strengths were that I can create and design the presentation, do research for it,
Throughout the year in Pre-AP English Literature I have learned a lot of information on the writing process. Through various writing assignments, I have learned to identify my strengths and weaknesses by reviewing my essays and writing reflections to look back on my improvements and my accomplishments. These perennial writing experiences I have done in class, as well as outside of class, have develop my writing skills tremendously by focusing on the pattern of the CEW structure, along with a clear, precise thesis that helps create a main idea and theme to follow while writing. Although, I feel my writing has gotten better, I feel there are a lot of improvements to be made that can help me reach the next level in my senior English class as well
