Traumatic facial injuries are extremely common. Since the faces have aesthetic units and several organs, plastic surgeons must be very meticulous and skillful in order to provide definitive treatment in the emergency department [1]. Otherwise, permanent injury or disfigurement may negatively affect patients’ future. Early treatment on soft tissue wounds of the face is required because once the trauma gets server, it will have the detrimental effect on the growth of facial bones [1]. Soft-Tissue injuries of the face can frequently occur during animal bites, hot liquids scald, sports and recreational activities, motor vehicle crashes, interpersonal violence and some accidental fall [3,4]. There are over 3 million facial traumatic injuries that cause deaths or disability every year [5]. The estimated statistics show that both animal bites and facial burns affect around 1 to 2 million Americans each year [6, 7]. Studies have shown that more than 2.5 million drivers and passengers were injured because of the motor vehicle crashes in 2012 [5]. The first one is cosmetic, which is provided to improve one's appearance by reshaping normal facial structures [9]. The second one is reconstructive surgery, which can be used for abnormal structure of face caused by trauma, birth defects, tumors or developmental abnormalities [9]. With both aesthetic and functional reconstruction, it is able to improve the function and appearance of facial or head deformities. According to the statistical report of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) shows that the nasal reconstruction accounts for 48%, skin cancer accounts for 33%, scar revision accounts for 10%, and facial trauma surgery is about 2% [10].
