Since the faces have aesthetic units and several organs, plastic surgeons must be very meticulous and skillful in order to provide definitive treatment in the emergency department [1]. Otherwise, permanent injury or disfigurement may negatively affect patients’ future. The estimated statistics show that both animal bites and facial burns affect around 1 to 2 million Americans each year [6, 7]. Studies have shown that more than 2.5 million drivers and passengers were injured because of the motor vehicle crashes in 2012 [5]. While many events in my life have contributed to growth and development of where I stand today, I understand now that my head injury has been the greatest influence. Due to physical and mental challenges, I have had many life changes. Sometimes daily challenges. Whereas, many of my abilities have been restored by the Grace of God, I still have lost my ability to learn quickly, my meticulous speech, and some mental distortions due to the head injury. I am angry and discouraged yet, my heart tells me, I can learn from this experience and help others who are in similar situations. And, that I can help others grow in the Power of Jesus Christ.

Unintentional Injuries/Accidents are harmful acts that occur without any intention of causing damage or death, but death can be the end result. Accidents can occur to an individual regardless of age, gender and even race. Unintentional Injuries/Accidents include motor vehicle crashes, unintentional poisonings, accidental suffocation, drowning, falls, unintentional fires, and unintentional firearm discharges. According to South Carolina DHEC, in 2010, there was a small difference in the death rates for accidents, which was ranked five out of ten for the overall causes of deaths for the white population and black population. For the White/Caucasian population, the death rate was 5.4 percent and for the Black/African-American population, the death rate was 4.9 percent. There was a 0.7 percent difference between the two populations. But, in contrast there was a 38.0 percent death rate for unintentional injuries for all ages in the United States.
