An undying love for Wall Street

Growing up in a country with alarmingly low levels of foreign reserves and high levels of unemployment, I always used to wonder why my country was in such a deplorable state, to say the least. To find an answer to this question, I started reading the “Business” section in the newspapers on a regular basis, and this is what developed a strong passion and flair for finance within me. To acquire the right skills required for a successful career in finance, I decided to choose this as my major when I started college. From watching movies related to finance, such as The Wolf of Wall Street, to reading articles that expose me to current market information, I have always loved doing anything that upgrades my knowledge about this fast-paced field. …show more content…

I wanted to see all those bulge bracket investment banks that I dream of almost every day, from Goldman Sachs to Morgan Stanley, from Wells Fargo to BNY Mellon – I wanted to see them all. This dream became a reality when I got a chance to visit my favorite city – NYC – a place where hundreds of dreams become a reality every day but also a place where hundreds of those dreams are shattered every day. I also got a chance to get a picture with the famous charging bull and fearless girl statue. This statue reminds me of how women stand against misogyny prevalent in the world of business and crush it with their skills and aptitude and their will to never give up no matter what the circumstances be. I couldn’t visit the New York Stock Exchange which was quite upsetting for me, however, I could see the lavish corporate offices of Ernst & Young, NASDAQ and Thomson Reuters on the beautiful streets of Times
