Cloud formations have always been observed by people, many centuries before our time. People were always fond of clouds. They always wondered why some clouds were dark and others were white and fluffy, and why some clouds are so up high and others were so low that they looked reachable by the human hands.
The most recent classification of clouds was accomplished by the World Meteorological Organization in 1956. This organization lists 10 basic kinds of clouds that are subdivided into species according to their outer shape and inner structure. In addition, cloud varieties are discussed according to arrangement and transparency. There is a height classification which are called high, middle, and low altitudes. The different kinds of clouds are found in these three divisions according to the clouds' altitude.
First, we have the high clouds that range in altitude from 16,500 to 45,000 feet. In this division we have the cirrus, cirrocumulus, and cirrostratus clouds. A cirrus cloud appears in delicate, feather-like bands that are not attached to each other, and is usually white with no shading. Cirrocumulus clouds appear like very small round balls or flakes. The cirrocumulus clouds sometimes form a pattern of a buttermilk sky. The cirrostratus clouds sometimes form tangled webs or thin whitish sheets. A large ring or halo is sometimes seen around the sun or moon when the cirrostratus covers the sky.

I must say that this film is very traumatizing. There are some images in this film that will be burned and scarred into my mind for as long as I live. I have seen many holocaust films, but no one was as near as dramatic and depicting as Night and Fog. However I did like the theme of this movie. It is very sad but yet realistic. Our minds are murky and dull. We tend to only remember the important situation in our lives. Yet we don’t remember the importance of our own history. I say OUR history be cause we all are human beings on this earth. Whether we believe in Allah, Jesus, Jehovah, or whatever higher power, we are all one race, and that the human race. It is very sad to know that human beings were treated and slaughtered just because of an ideology of superiority complex. Al though the Jewish people were massacred I learned that we must always keep a sense of hope in order to assure our own survival. When I saw in the movie the moments where there were journals that read about favorite foods and important dates, my heart was filled with sadness. Not because these victims didn’t have this to eat but because of the false illusions that they had to dream in order to stay sane.
Snow is precipitation in the form of ice crystals, so it originates in clouds through the water cycle. Thunderstorms can be spectacular yet so destructive. The development of thunderstorms and why tornadoes form continues puzzle to scientists (Bluestein, 1999, loc. 2046). The development of a storm begins with the accumulation of clouds (cumulous stage) and updrafts. Moisture in the clouds turns to liquid water and heat is released. The moisture in the clouds turns into raindrops and this changes the density of the clouds. The cooling and weight of the rain causes a downdraft. The wind shifts with the downdraft which causes wind gusts.
Amongst White Clouds is a documentary directed by Edward Burger, who made a life-changing journey to China in search of Buddhist hermits that still lived among the mountains in modern-day China. Burger first heard of these Chinese hermits in a book he found in a monastery while researching Indian Buddhism—Bill Porter's Road to Heaven. It was only after several months since arriving in Beijing, China that Burger was pointed towards China's Zhongnan Mountain range, where he eventually travelled to study under the supervision of a monk for several years. The documentary consists of various interviews with several of the hermits (including, notably, a nun and a monk nearing the end of his journey) surrounded by footage of their daily lives.

This process is repeated for a large number of raindrops, and a rainbow is formed. It's interesting to note, that the observer has his back to the sun and is facing the raindrops when viewing a rainbow. Thus geometry needs to be just right between the observer,the place where it is raining, and the sun. The light from the sun passes over the observer, strikes rain droplets, and comes back to the observer. Yet, the Earth prevents us to see the whole arc of a rainbow. When the sun is higher in the sky, only a small arc of a rainbow cab be seen from land. The reason for that is that the arc cannot be followed below the horizon(the droplets in the air below the horizon cannot be seen). The expansion of intense air triggers thunder. Subsequently, light relocates quicker than sound. Thus, the thunder is perceived to be following the lightning. Conversely, if you notice lightning and hear thunder at the identical time, then the lightning is nearby. If you perceive consecutive lashes of lightning in the equivalent place on the horizon, then you are in line with the storm, and it may be moving toward you. On the other hand, cumulonimbus clouds are the type of clouds that instigate thunderstorms.
It is possible for thunderstorms and tornadoes to form when the lower troposphere is conditionally stable when the air is cloudy. Conditional stability means that for clear air the atmosphere is stable; but for cloudy air, the atmosphere becomes unstable, causing the uplift necessary for storms.
HOW: Atmospheric instability is the result of air rising in a cloud that is warmer than its surroundings. The heat released by the condensation within the cloud allows the rising air to maintain its relative warmth in comparison to its surroundings. This is characteristic of a supercell, the strongest type of thunderstorm (Supercell). Supercells occur when the warm updraft moves through an overlying stable layer and continues upward into a zone of cool dry air. This process produces fierce vortex motions, a pre-requisite for tornadoes.
