Cloud Computing Advantages And Disadvantages

The cloud is a computing network of remote, servers hosted on the internet and used to store, manage and process data in place of local servers or personal computers. There is a rich, complex, and shared data store in the cloud (Oxforddictionaries.com, 2014). In addition. in the could computing, there is also a thing used to explain a range of computing concepts that include a large number of computers attached through a real-time communication network like the internet. In since, cloud computing is a synonym for distributed computing over a network and that means the ability to run a program or an application on many connected computers at the same time.
The phrase is often used in reference to network-based services, which appear to be provided by real server hardware, and are in fact served up by virtual hardware, simulated by software running on one or more real machines (Viswanathan, 2012). Such virtual servers do not physically exist and can therefore be moved around and scaled up or down on the fly without affecting the end user, somewhat like a cloud becoming larger or smaller without being a physical object. Furthermore, in common usage, the term "the cloud" is essentially a metaphor for the Internet (Jaatun and Zhao et al., 2009).

Advantage of cloud computing

• Cost efficient
Traditional desktop software costs companies a lot in terms of finance adding up the licensing fees for multiple users can prove to be very expensive for the establishment concerned. The cloud, on the other hand, is available at much cheaper rates and hence, can significantly lower the company’s IT expenses. Besides, there are many one-time-payment, pay-as-you-go and other scalable options available, which makes it very reasonable for cloud compu...

...hings, we have to put both advantages and disadvantages as can be seen here. The Desktop system has an easy and simple way to access the data. Also, it has an easy way to upgrade the hardware (Rice, 2002, pp. 17-60).

Disadvantages of the Desktop system

• Can only be accessed from one location
• More expensive hardware’s and software’s

Conclusion

I think cloud technology is the future. In addition, like everything else, Cloud computing system has its advantages and disadvantages. This technology can prove to be a great asset to SBM, because it can help them develop their system in an easy, cheap, effective way. All the disadvantages in the cloud can be solved by one step which is by hiring the best to solve the technical and the security issues. Finally, since SBM is big enough to be the third party and this way they make sure all the information will be safe.
