Climate change is the change of global temperatures due to the high levels of carbon-dioxide and other destructive gases being released into the atmosphere, warming the earth causing a devastating impact on the ecosystem. The National Research Council concluded that "Climate change is occurring, is very likely caused by human activities, and poses significant risks for a broad range of human and natural systems" (EPA). There are multiple effects of climate change including: increasing sea levels; melting of the polar ice caps; additional extreme heat events, fires and drought; and more extreme storms, rainfall and floods. More than just human beings are affected by climate change. The animals and the insects that inhabit the planet are going into extinction or living under problematic circumstances. According to Preparing for Climate Change geologist predict “that these trends will continue and in some cases accelerate, posing significant risks to human health, our forests, agriculture, freshwater supplies, coastlines, and other natural resources that are vital to the economy, environment, and our quality of life”. Climate change is a phenomenon that has an effect on the whole planet.
Recently the world has experienced an increased level of natural disasters killing and creating extremely difficult living conditions. Earthquakes, tsunamis, cyclones and other extreme weather conditions occurred over the last decade, devastating the life’s of our fellow human beings. Typhoon Haiyan is the most recent disaster that occurred in the Philippines. Typhoons are a type of cyclone, a low-pressure system with strong windstorms that form all over the world. In 2013 Typhoon Haiyan was feared to have “killed more than 10,000 citizens” of the r...

...e change. Although the government in the past neglected the issues of climate change; new deviations are being made it prevent any future disaster caused by climate change. The EPA collects various types of greenhouse gas emissions data. The data collected helps track greenhouse gas emissions tendencies and find opportunities for lowering releases and increasing efficiency.
There will be major changes that have to take effect to reduce the emissions and promoting a clean air economy. We can start to do to more energy efficient things in our everyday lives. Human beings have picked up a lot of habits that waste energy, like leaving a room without turning off the lights. Many Americans go to bed with the television on wasting energy that contributing to climate change. Leaving your phone charger plug into the wall when not; is another example of ways we waste energy.
