After reading chapter 3, I have found several things I could agree upon with the author Yancey. Yancey writes “Perhaps the intensity of feeling among the three traditional stems from a common heritage: family disputes are always the stubbornest, and civil wars the bloodiest” (53). I completely agree with this statement because it is the truth. Family disputes are silly and obnoxious and it causes problems among one another. They are often stubborn because they won’t acknowledge their mistake and will not apologize behalf of what they say. I also agree when Yancey said how Civil war is the bloodiest. Civil war is all about fighting and killing, there is no peace in war. For example, look at the American Civil War, about 1,264,000 people have died in that war. War is all about fighting and when it involves fighting blood is absolutely part of it. …show more content…

I acknowledge the things he talks about in his book and especially this chapter. He writes and expresses his words carefully in order for us the readers to understand and comprehend. Yancey writes “What divides us from the others was the celebration of the Lord’s supper” (54). I completely agree with this statement because we are no different from one another. We are basically are all the same. When we die, our body will decay just like each and every one of us. “Not only did Jesus choose a race, he also chose a time and place in which to be born” (Yancey 56). This line surprised me because I never interpreted Jesus’ birth this way. I never thought about Jesus birth was chosen to be born this way. I thought it just happened that he was born in places just like us. The way we are born is different from God because we did not choose the exact time and place like Jesus. Yancey shocked me with this line because I would have never thought Jesus chose the time and place to where to be
