To begin the German and Iraqi versions of the story share similarities and differences. In both versions there is a beautiful young lady who was mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. The stepsisters did not clearly state why they treated Cinderella the way they did but it’s pretty obvious that they treated her that way because Cinderella isn’t as wealthy as them but she is still more beautiful than them. Although the “Cinderella” (Germany) and “The little red fish and the golden clog” (Iraqi) are two different stories they share similar traits; such as they were both raised by their fathers after their mothers passed, both was mistreated by their stepmother and stepsisters, and both had a godmother figure who helped them find love. …show more content…

The young girl from the “Cinderella” story lost her mother to sickness. Cinderella was then raised and taken care of by her father. The young girl from “The little red fish and the golden clog” lost her mother to her drowning in a lake. Cinderella wanted her father to be happy and still needed and wanted a motherly figure so she told her dad to find new love. “Why don’t you marry our neighbor, father?” said Cinderella. After the young girl’s mother passed away and was given a stepmother and stepsisters was soon regretted when the new family members began being rude towards Cinderella. The young girl in the story “Cinderella” cried out to her stepmother to be able to attend the festival with them but he stepmothers said “it’s no use. You are not coming with us, for you have no clothes, and you don’t know how to dance. We would be ashamed of you.”(Grimm) Cinderella went to her mother’s grave in shame calling out for help. When she was then helped by a mysterious bird who gave her beautiful clothing made of gold silver allowing her to attend to the festival allowing her to fall in love with a handsome prince.
